Client-side routing only - ignore TanStack Start / SSR / server functions. Depth: skill tanstack-router.

Repo invariants

  • File-based routing via Vite plugin (tanstackRouter before @vitejs/plugin-react). See frontend-architecture.mdc / vite-config.mdc.
  • routeTree.gen.ts is generated and committed - never hand-edit; regenerate via app routes:generate / routes:check. Excluded from OXC.
  • Register the router once (declare module "@tanstack/react-router" { interface Register { router: typeof router } }). One router + one <RouterProvider>. Prefer defaultPreload: "intent" and scrollRestoration: true.
  • Three-layer split: eager src/routes/<path>.tsx (loaders/guards/validateSearch) → src/routes/<path>.lazy.tsx (UI components) → src/pages/<Page>.tsx. Keep route files thin.
  • Typed <Link> / useNavigate() only - no hand-built internal URLs. Search params: validateSearch with a zod v4 schema passed directly (native support - no @tanstack/zod-adapter, never reintroduce it); .catch() fallbacks keep type inference; loaderDeps when loaders depend on search.
  • Auth/redirects in beforeLoad, not render. Throw notFound() from loaders when appropriate.
  • Query integration: queryClient on root context; loaders ensureQueryData(opts); components useSuspenseQuery(opts). Set defaultPreloadStaleTime: 0 so Query staleTime owns freshness (common misconfig). See tanstack-query.mdc.
