agents-and-tests

agents-and-tests is a cursor rule for Cursor from newfront/pyspark-datagen. It costs 174 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A team rule for improving code: document better methods in AGENTS.md, add tests for code changes, and handle one problem at a time. AGENTS.md is a project file that records instructions for coding agents.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when changing code, improving a solution, updating agent instructions, or deciding what tests to add and run.
Why use it?
It prevents useful fixes from being forgotten and reduces the chance that a change breaks existing behavior. Limiting work to one problem makes changes easier to review.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00174 $0.00174
Opus 5 $0.00087 $0.00087
Sonnet 5 $0.00035 $0.00035
Haiku 4.5 $0.00017 $0.00017

Measured 5d ago against content hash 5f15690cce2b, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-06, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

agents-and-tests scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

AGENTS.md and tests when improving

When you find a better way to solve a problem:

  1. Update AGENTS.md
Document the improved approach in AGENTS.md (workflows, CLI flags, file locations, or caveats) so future runs and other agents use the better method.

  2. Add or extend unit tests
For any code change, introduce or update tests that verify the new behavior and that existing behavior still works. Run the test suite to confirm nothing else breaks.

  3. One problem at a time
Tackle a single improvement or fix per change: implement it, update AGENTS.md if needed, add/run tests, then move on.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
