charter-content-primitive-shape

charter-content-primitive-shape is a cursor rule for Cursor from tacoda/keystone. It costs 0 tokens per session (531 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

Rules for the structure and placement of files in a shared agent-configuration system. Frontmatter is the metadata at the top of a file, and path scoping limits a rule to matching files.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when adding, moving, or editing agent rules and references, especially when deciding which files a rule should govern.
Why use it?
It prevents rules from being ignored because they are in the wrong location or missing required metadata. It also keeps generated indexes up to date and pairs each rule with its supporting reference.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00000 $0.00531
Opus 5.5 $0.00000 $0.00212
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00000 $0.00106
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00053

Security

Grade A, and why

charter-content-primitive-shape scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Primitive shape — rules

Full rule: .agents/rules/idioms/charter-content/primitive-shape.md (read on demand).

IRON LAW

  • Every primitive declares id and description in frontmatter. No exceptions. Keystone infers kind from the folder, and lint fails without an id.
  • Every primitive lives at the canonical path for its kind (table in the reference). Off-path content is invisible.
  • paths: scopes a rule to the files it governs. A rule with paths: applies only when a touched file matches. A rule without paths: applies everywhere. Write paths:, not the 4.x globs:.
  • No hand-edits to generated files. INDEX.json and the ## Index table in GLOBS_INDEX.md are regenerated; manual edits are overwritten.

GOLDEN RULE

  • New rule → write the paired reference in the same change. Either side alone is a smell the charter-debt subagent flags.
  • After any primitive add / move / delete → run keystone index so INDEX.json reflects the new shape. Then run keystone project so the host files (.claude/, AGENTS.md, and the other enabled hosts) regenerate.
  • A rule's description: reads like a one-line answer to "should I open this file right now?" — the agent uses it as a gate.
  • Use the same id: value as the path slug (e.g., id: idioms/go/stdlib-first for rules/idioms/go/stdlib-first.md). Aliases hide intent.
  • severity: must only when deviation actually warrants a hook-grade complaint. Default to should and let the reference carry the reasoning.

Anti-patterns

  • Placeholder description: ('TODO', 'description', copy-paste from another primitive).
  • A rule with paths: patterns that match no real files (typically copy-pasted from a different stack).
  • A reference with no paired rule, or a rule whose body has no reference link.
  • A new primitive that lands without a keystone index run — .keystone/INDEX.json silently drifts until the next agent session that reads it.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
