  2. Minimal implementation (GREEN) - just enough to pass
  3. Refactor (IMPROVE) - clean up while tests pass
  4. Coverage must be 80%+

Test Types

  • Unit: Individual functions, utilities
  • Integration: API endpoints, database operations
  • E2E: Critical user flows (Playwright)

Naming Convention

  • Test files: *.test.ts or *.spec.ts
  • Test names: describe what behavior is expected
  • Use describe for grouping, it for individual cases

Rules

  • No console.log in tests
  • No hardcoded test data -- use factories/fixtures
  • Mock external services, not internal modules
  • Each test must be independent (no shared state)
