operate-itech-it8813-load

operate-itech-it8813-load is a skill for Codex from 1622352030/lab-equipment-mcp. It costs 79 tokens per session (3,426 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of operating instructions for controlling an ITECH IT8813 DC electronic load through repository tools. A DC electronic load draws current from a power supply so an agent can configure and measure load tests.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to run constant-current, voltage, resistance, power, dynamic, list, and trace experiments, configure protection, and diagnose failed load tests.
Why use it?
It explains the instrument's limits and safety-related behaviours, reducing the chance of invalid measurements, protection trips, or damaged test setups.

Skill for Codex

Written for Codex: agents/openai.yaml present.

Good fit Use it to run constant-current, voltage, resistance, power, dynamic, list, and trace experiments, configure protection, and diagnose failed load tests.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00079 $0.03426
Opus 5.5 $0.00032 $0.01370
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00016 $0.00685
Haiku 4.5 $0.00008 $0.00343

Security

Grade A, and why

operate-itech-it8813-load scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 28d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Operate the ITECH IT8813 DC Electronic Load

The MCP tools tell you what the instrument can be asked to do. They cannot tell you how to combine them without damaging the result or tripping protection. Every rule below comes from a real bench incident on this instrument; each one names the symptom it prevents.

For the full command-by-command manual comparison (Chinese), see docs/itech/IT8813.md. A worked example with the circuit arithmetic and measured values is in references/worked-example.md. Five instrument behaviours that contradict the manual or the obvious reading are collected in references/verified-behaviour.md — read it before planning a reset, a short, or a List run.

0. Start with what this class of instrument can and cannot do

Read references/load-fundamentals.md before the first experiment: it covers DC electronic loads in general, with manual page references. The short version, because every rule below is a consequence of one of these:

  • A load only absorbs current. It cannot source current and cannot raise a voltage — so a CV setting above the source voltage can never be satisfied, and the load simply stops conducting.
  • CC / CR / CW pair with a constant-voltage supply; CV pairs with a current source. Load CV facing a CV supply makes two voltage sources fight across the cable resistance (§2).
  • Hardware protection clamps; software protection trips. POWer:CONFig is the hardware power clamp — it limits every mode without any error — while software OCP/OPP switch the input off and latch it (manual print p25–p26, §3 and §6 below).
  • Any tripped protection latches the input off; clear it before continuing.
  • The load reports the voltage and current at its own terminals, so its numbers differ from the supply's by the drop along the cables.
  • Global registers persist between experiments: an earlier stage can silently change what a later one does (§3).

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
