scan-font-sources

scan-font-sources is a skill for Claude Code from a8cteam51/claude-code-plugins. It costs 20 tokens per session (478 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A local font-source scanner that refreshes a catalog index from the font collections configured on your computer.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to add or repoint a font source, migrate older configuration, and update the local index after fonts change.
Why use it?
It keeps the catalog aligned with the current contents of multiple font folders and avoids scanning unsupported live cloud-sync locations.

Skill for Claude Code

Written for Claude Code: ${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT} variable. Also seen: reads .claude/ paths.

Not installable: its command points at a path on the author’s own machine, so it runs nowhere else. The line is /Users/allancole/Claude.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00020 $0.00478
Opus 5.5 $0.00008 $0.00191
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00004 $0.00096
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00048

Security

Grade A, and why

scan-font-sources scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 17d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Scan font sources

Refresh ~/.claude/local-font-sources/index.json against the current state of every source in ~/.claude/local-font-sources/config.json. Read ${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/skills/scan-font-sources/references/scanning.md and follow it — this skill is the trigger, that file is the mechanics; do not duplicate the procedure here.

Arguments (optional): $ARGUMENTS — <name> <path> to add or repoint a single source in config.json before scanning (e.g. default /Users/allancole/Claude Projects/font-sources). Omit to scan every configured source as-is.

Steps

  1. Resolve sources: apply $ARGUMENTS if given, else read config.json as-is; if it's missing or still has the old single-key (font_dir) shape, migrate it to {"sources": [...]} in place. If there are no sources at all, ask once and write one named default.
  2. Refuse to scan any source path under ~/Library/Mobile Documents/ (iCloud) or another live cloud-sync location — report that the collection needs to be copied to local disk first and stop, for that source only (other sources still scan).
  3. Run the scan procedure from ${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/skills/scan-font-sources/ references/scanning.md in full for every source: walk, parse, license-check, diff, update index.json, tagging each result with its source's name.
  4. Report the delta only, broken out per source if more than one — new files, files flagged for reclassification, files now missing on disk, and updated totals by license status. Do not print the full index.

This skill never classifies anything (no specimen rendering, no web research) — it only updates index.json. Classification happens on demand, through /find-font or through a real design task, per ${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/skills/find-font/references/classification.md.

Files

What ships with it

1 file beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
