site-launch-comparison

site-launch-comparison is a skill for Claude Code from a8cteam51/claude-code-plugins. It costs 134 tokens per session (2,632 once invoked), scanned B, original, MIT.

A website comparison tool that takes full-page screenshots of matching pages on two website versions and puts them side by side in a standalone HTML report.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it for visual checks of re-themes, redesigns, replatforms, and staging-versus-production changes, including pages affected by cookie notices, delayed images, or browser checks.
Why use it?
It avoids manually capturing, matching, and presenting pages when checking a redesign, migration, or staging site against another version.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00134 $0.02632
Opus 5.5 $0.00054 $0.01053
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00027 $0.00526
Haiku 4.5 $0.00013 $0.00263

Security

Grade B, and why

site-launch-comparison scanned grade B with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 5 executable files (scripts/build_report.py, scripts/capture_all.sh, scripts/capture.py, …), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Asks for rootmediumPrivilege escalation

A mod that escalates privileges can change anything on the machine, not only the project.

- **No root.** `playwright install-deps` calls sudo and fails in sandboxes.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 248 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Site launch comparison

Produce a visual before/after record of a site change: full-page screenshots of matching URLs on two hosts, side by side in one HTML page the user can open, scroll, and hand to stakeholders.

Typical framing: before is the old site (staging, UAT, the previous theme), after is the new one (production, the new theme). Nothing is WordPress-specific — any two hosts serving comparable URLs work.

Locate the skill directory first

Every command below runs a bundled script. Determine the directory containing this SKILL.md file and store it as SKILL_DIR — the user's working directory is their project, not this skill, so bare relative paths will not resolve:

SKILL_DIR="<absolute path to the directory holding this SKILL.md>"

Why this needs a script and not just a browser

Four things reliably ruin hand-rolled screenshot runs, and the bundled scripts already handle all of them. Knowing they exist saves you from rediscovering them the hard way:

  • Bot-check interstitials. Many sites serve a "Checking your browser…" page to datacenter IPs. It clears in a few seconds, but a naive script screenshots the interstitial and reports success. capture.py waits for real content and validates page height before saving.
  • Shell time limits. Agent shells are often capped at ~3 minutes per call, and background processes do not survive between calls, so a long capture job gets killed with nothing saved. capture.py is resumable and budget-limited: run it repeatedly until it prints REMAINING 0.
  • No root. playwright install-deps calls sudo and fails in sandboxes. setup_browser.sh unpacks the shared libraries into a local prefix instead.
  • Overlays and lazy loading. A cookie banner or newsletter modal on one side and not the other makes the comparison unreadable; lazy images render blank in a full-page shot. capture.py suppresses common overlays and pre-scrolls the page.

Workflow

1. Confirm scope before capturing

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

site-launch-comparison is a skill published in the GitHub repository a8cteam51/claude-code-plugins (5 stars, last pushed 2d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 134 tokens to every session and 2,632 once invoked, about $0.0005 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it B with 1 finding (asks for root). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-16.
