route

route is a skill for Claude Code from aaronbassett/agent-foundry. It costs 75 tokens per session (1,937 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A routing skill for choosing a decision-making method based on the shape and stakes of a question. The methods include approaches for adversarial review, pre-mortems, group viewpoints, and high-stakes deliberation.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when you have a decision to make but do not know which review or deliberation technique fits.
Why use it?
It removes the guesswork of choosing how to analyze a difficult decision.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00075 $0.01937
Opus 5 $0.00037 $0.00968
Sonnet 5 $0.00015 $0.00387
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00194

Security

Grade A, and why

route scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Decision-making route

When to use this skill

You have a decision to make and don't already know which technique fits. If you do know, invoke the command directly and skip this skill. This skill is for mid-task triage and cold-start human invocation — it is explicitly bypassable, and plan steps should bypass it.

The rubric

tribunal (cost: High)

Decision shape: You have N≥2 concrete options, the decision is load-bearing and hard to reverse, and you want rigorous deliberation with rebuttals before committing. Use when stakes justify the ceremony.

Signals:

  • Irreversible or expensive-to-undo
  • You need a written record of the reasoning (rebuttals, trade-offs) that will survive the decision, not just a pick
  • You want an honest "unable to decide" escape hatch

Not this if: You need a quick tiebreak and the decision is reversible → use adversarial. Not this if: the contest is over values rather than evidence (different stakeholders want genuinely different things) → use council.

Invoke: /decision-making:tribunal "<decision + options>"

adversarial (cost: Medium)

Decision shape: You have N≥2 concrete options and want a quick tiebreak with steelmanned briefs. One round of advocates, no rebuttals, no iteration.

Signals:

  • Decision is reversible or moderate-stakes
  • You've been going back and forth and want to force a pick
  • The cost of delay exceeds the cost of picking wrong

Not this if: Stakes are high, you want rebuttals, or you want an honest "unable to decide" escape hatch → use tribunal.

Invoke: /decision-making:adversarial "<decision + N options>"

red-team (cost: Medium)

Decision shape: You have a proposed plan, answer, design, or artifact and want to stress-test it before committing. Verdict is accept | revise | reject.

Signals:

  • The plan is still open to critique, not already committed to
  • You want someone committed to finding reasons it will fail
  • You're about to make it official

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

route is a skill published in the GitHub repository aaronbassett/agent-foundry (4 stars, last pushed 22d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 75 tokens to every session and 1,937 once invoked, about $0.0004 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
