loggly-cli

loggly-cli is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from abdullahkhawer/devops-skills. It costs 31 tokens per session (811 once invoked), scanned B, original, Apache-2.0.

A command-line skill for searching Loggly, a hosted service that collects and stores application logs, through its web API. It also inspects saved searches and groups of log sources.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to search Loggly events and inspect saved searches or source groups while investigating application problems.
Why use it?
It avoids manually constructing API requests and helps keep production and staging log access separate. It requires the correct environment and reads credentials from protected files.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00031 $0.00811
Opus 5.5 $0.00012 $0.00324
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00006 $0.00162
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00081

Security

Grade B, and why

loggly-cli scanned grade B with 2 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 23d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Asks for rootmediumPrivilege escalation

A mod that escalates privileges can change anything on the machine, not only the project.

mkdir -p ~/.loggly && echo "<your-api-token>" > <TOKEN_FILE> && chmod 600 <TOKEN_FILE>

Not a fault in itself. Listed so you know the mod talks to something, and to what.

Loggly CLI Skill

Use the instance and rules below when constructing all Loggly API commands.

Configuration

Update the table below with your Loggly subdomain and credential file paths:

Environment Subdomain Token File
Production <your-prod-subdomain> ~/.loggly/prod.token
Staging <your-staging-subdomain> ~/.loggly/staging.token

If the target environment is unclear, ask the user before running any command.

Prerequisites (one-time setup by user)

Generate a Loggly API token (Account Settings → API Tokens) for each environment and save it to the corresponding token file. Never print or display token values. Do not perform these steps yourself.

mkdir -p ~/.loggly && echo "<your-api-token>" > <TOKEN_FILE> && chmod 600 <TOKEN_FILE>

Command Format

curl -s -u "$(cat <TOKEN_FILE>):" \
  "https://<subdomain>.loggly.com/apiv2/<endpoint>" | jq .

Available API Endpoints

Read-only (safe, no confirmation needed)

Endpoint Method Description
/apiv2/search GET Run a search query, returns an rsid
/apiv2/events?rsid=<id> GET Fetch results for a search job
/apiv2/search/list GET List saved searches
/apiv2/sources/groups GET List source groups
/apiv2/fields GET List indexed fields

Example — search logs

RSID=$(curl -s -u "$(cat <TOKEN_FILE>):" \
  "https://<subdomain>.loggly.com/apiv2/search?q=<query>&from=-1h&until=now&size=50" | jq -r '.rsid.id')

curl -s -u "$(cat <TOKEN_FILE>):" \
  "https://<subdomain>.loggly.com/apiv2/events?rsid=$RSID" | jq .

Mutating operations (confirm with user before running)

Endpoint Method Description
/apiv2/search/list POST Create a saved search
/apiv2/sources/groups POST Create a source group

Never run — requires explicit human approval

Endpoint Method Reason
/apiv2/search/list/<id> DELETE Irreversible saved search deletion
/apiv2/sources/groups/<id> DELETE Irreversible source group deletion
/apiv2/customer/settings POST Changes account-wide settings such as retention

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

loggly-cli is a skill published in the GitHub repository abdullahkhawer/devops-skills (8 stars, last pushed 24d ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 31 tokens to every session and 811 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it B with 2 findings (asks for root, makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-23.
