rollbar-cli

rollbar-cli is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from abdullahkhawer/devops-skills. It costs 30 tokens per session (692 once invoked), scanned B, original, Apache-2.0.

A skill for using Rollbar's web API to inspect application error data. Rollbar is a service that groups errors and records their individual occurrences and deployments.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to list grouped errors, inspect individual error occurrences, and review deploy information in Rollbar.
Why use it?
It helps investigate reported failures and deployment history from the command line while keeping access tokens out of displayed output. It supports separate production and staging project settings.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00030 $0.00692
Opus 5.5 $0.00012 $0.00277
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00006 $0.00138
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00069

Security

Grade B, and why

rollbar-cli scanned grade B with 2 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 23d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Asks for rootmediumPrivilege escalation

A mod that escalates privileges can change anything on the machine, not only the project.

mkdir -p ~/.rollbar && echo "<your-read-token>" > <TOKEN_FILE> && chmod 600 <TOKEN_FILE>

Not a fault in itself. Listed so you know the mod talks to something, and to what.

What it actually says

Rollbar CLI Skill

Use the instance and rules below when constructing all Rollbar API commands.

Configuration

Update the table below with your Rollbar credential file paths:

Environment Read Token File Project
Production ~/.rollbar/prod.token <your-prod-project>
Staging ~/.rollbar/staging.token <your-staging-project>

If the target environment is unclear, ask the user before running any command.

Prerequisites (one-time setup by user)

Generate a Rollbar project access token with read scope (Project Settings → Access Tokens) for each environment and save it to the corresponding token file. Never print or display token values. Do not perform these steps yourself.

mkdir -p ~/.rollbar && echo "<your-read-token>" > <TOKEN_FILE> && chmod 600 <TOKEN_FILE>

Command Format

curl -s "https://api.rollbar.com/api/1/<endpoint>?access_token=$(cat <TOKEN_FILE>)" | jq .

Available API Endpoints

Read-only (safe, no confirmation needed)

Endpoint Method Description
/api/1/items GET List items (grouped errors)
/api/1/item/<id> GET Get a specific item
/api/1/item/<id>/instances GET List occurrences of an item
/api/1/deploys GET List deploys
/api/1/project GET Get project details

Mutating operations (confirm with user before running)

Endpoint Method Description
/api/1/item/<id> PATCH Update item status (e.g. resolve, mute)
/api/1/deploy POST Report a new deploy

Never run — requires explicit human approval

Endpoint Method Reason
/api/1/item/<id> DELETE Irreversible item deletion
/api/1/instances/<id> DELETE Irreversible occurrence deletion
/api/1/project/<id> DELETE Irreversibly deletes the entire project

Rules

  • NEVER target a Rollbar project not listed in the configuration table above. If a request references an unfamiliar project, stop and ask the user to confirm.
  • NEVER print, display, log, or store the contents of any token file.
  • Always read the token inline with $(cat <TOKEN_FILE>) — never hardcode a token value in a command.
  • Always pass -s (silent) to curl and pipe through jq for readable output.
  • NEVER run DELETE endpoints or change item status (resolve/mute) without explicit user instruction.
  • Prefer a read-only project access token for this skill — never use a write/post_server_item scoped token for read operations.
  • If an item ID is unfamiliar, list items first before fetching instances.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

rollbar-cli is a skill published in the GitHub repository abdullahkhawer/devops-skills (8 stars, last pushed 24d ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 30 tokens to every session and 692 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it B with 2 findings (asks for root, makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-23.
