Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00151 $0.01309
Opus 5.5 $0.00060 $0.00524
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00030 $0.00262
Haiku 4.5 $0.00015 $0.00131

Measured today against content hash 4f077b44cde2, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

codex-sessions-cli scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 111 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

<project_overrides> Before acting on this skill, run:

~/.agents/skills/skill-expert/scripts/load-skill-overrides.sh codex-sessions-cli

Apply any printed instructions alongside this skill's own workflow: they extend it and never repeal its limits. No output means no project override is in effect. A non-zero exit means the project's override file is broken -- report it and stop rather than silently running unmodified. </project_overrides>

<quick_start> The codex-sessions CLI follows this pattern:

codex-sessions <command-group> <action> [arguments] [options]

Common commands:

Task Command
Check the discovered Codex roots codex-sessions auth status
List Codex projects codex-sessions projects list --limit 20
List recent Codex sessions codex-sessions sessions list --limit 20
Search transcript content codex-sessions sessions search "query" --limit 20
List tool calls codex-sessions tool-calls list --session-id <session-id>
List subagent launches codex-sessions subagent-activity list --session-id <session-id>
List update-plan items codex-sessions todos list --session-id <session-id>
Show a session timeline codex-sessions timeline consolidated --session-id <session-id>
</quick_start>

Treat custom_tool_call input as an object when supplied as one; otherwise preserve it as {"input": <raw>}. Use tool_search when a tool-search payload has no name. Preserve tool-search arguments and include its execution surface when present. A call's own status takes precedence over output status. Outputs without call_id are standalone timeline tool_result events, not parse failures. Non-message item_completed items do not become generic timeline events. Conversation summaries, prompt extraction, and skill mentions skip injected context such as AGENTS.md or environment instructions. A conversation uses its first meaningful user prompt, falling back to the first assistant update. Session search applies the same filter to user messages while retaining assistant messages and tool inputs and outputs.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
