cvs-cli

cvs-cli is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from adbertram/cli-tools. It costs 116 tokens per session (908 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00116 $0.00908
Opus 5.5 $0.00046 $0.00363
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00023 $0.00182
Haiku 4.5 $0.00012 $0.00091

Measured today against content hash 0262eed7b70c, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

cvs-cli scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

<quick_start> The cvs CLI follows this pattern:

cvs <command-group> <action> [arguments] [options]
Task Command
List all prescriptions cvs prescriptions list --table
Get prescription details cvs prescriptions get <rx_id>
Check refill eligibility cvs refills check --table
List order history cvs orders list --table
Get order details cvs orders get <order_id>
Check auth status cvs auth status
Login (browser) cvs auth login
</quick_start>

<browser_auth_login> cvs auth login is an interactive visible-browser handoff. It opens a normal browser window with no automation attached and then waits for terminal input so the user can confirm that login, OTP, and any CAPTCHA are complete before the CLI captures the session. Do not run cvs auth login as a foreground non-PTY Hermes terminal command; without an interactive /dev/tty the command can wait until the tool timeout after printing guidance such as Device not configured: '/dev/tty'.

For Hermes/Codex, use a PTY-capable interactive surface (terminal(..., pty=true) / exec_command with tty: true, then send Enter only after the user-visible login is complete) or an explicitly approved visible-browser handoff that provides terminal input. Do not script CVS credential entry, CAPTCHA, OTP, or browser-session capture with browser automation; the safe automation boundary is launching the CLI and handing the normal browser window to the user. </browser_auth_login>

<expected_status_probes> cvs auth status may legitimately return a non-zero status when it reports unauthenticated live state (for example authenticated: false or browser_session: false). When auth state is being investigated, do not run cvs auth status --table as a bare terminal command. Wrap it so the command output is preserved as evidence and the wrapper exits 0 for expected unauthenticated states; reserve non-zero exits for command/runtime failures or final validation that requires an authenticated session. </expected_status_probes>

<essential_principles> MANDATORY: Consult the adjacent usage.json at <cli-tools-root>/_repo/skills/<tool>-cli/usage.json before executing ANY cvs command. This file contains complete command syntax, all arguments, all options, and usage instructions for every command. Never guess at command syntax.

<reference_index> usage.json -- Complete command tree with arguments, options, defaults, and usage instructions for every command. </reference_index>

<success_criteria>

  • Command executes without error
  • Output is displayed in requested format
  • Correct command and flags used (verified against usage.json) </success_criteria>

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

cvs-cli is a skill published in the GitHub repository adbertram/cli-tools (6 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT. It adds 116 tokens to every session and 908 once invoked, about $0.0005 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-11-07.
