fastmail-mcp

fastmail-mcp is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from adinschmidt/fastmail-mcp. It costs 0 tokens per session (2,331 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A TypeScript software kit for working with email, calendars, and contacts through standard services such as Fastmail.

In plain words
What is it for?
Listing mailboxes and emails, and connecting applications to JMAP mail plus CalDAV calendars and CardDAV contacts.
Why use it?
It removes the need to build separate integrations for mail, calendar, and contact data, while supporting the credentials and server settings required by different providers.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00000 $0.02331
Opus 5.5 $0.00000 $0.00932
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00000 $0.00466
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00233

Security

Grade A, and why

fastmail-mcp scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

JMAP/DAV SDK

TypeScript SDK for mail (JMAP), calendar (CalDAV), and contacts (CardDAV). Provider-generic; Fastmail works out of the box. The examples below use fastmail as the import alias — any name works.

Import:

import * as fastmail from './jmap-dav-mcp/src/sdk.js';

Required env vars:

  • Fastmail: FASTMAIL_USERNAME + FASTMAIL_APP_PASSWORD (or FASTMAIL_API_TOKEN alone for mail). Server URLs are implied.
  • Other providers: JMAP_BASE_URL + JMAP_API_TOKEN (or JMAP_USERNAME/JMAP_PASSWORD) for mail; CALDAV_URL/CARDDAV_URL + DAV_USERNAME/DAV_PASSWORD for calendar/contacts.
  • Calendar event creation also needs DAV_ORGANIZER_EMAIL (falls back to DAV_USERNAME/FASTMAIL_USERNAME).

Pagination

MCP tools and this SDK share the same service implementation. For complete scans use listEmailsPage, searchEmailsPage, listCalendarEventsPage, listContactsPage, or searchContactsPage. They accept the same filters as the corresponding array methods, plus position.

Pages return { items, position, total, nextPosition }. Start at position zero, keep filters unchanged, and continue until nextPosition is null. Mail allows 1 to 200 records per page and defaults to 20. DAV allows 1 to 500 and defaults to 50. Positions must be non-negative safe integers.

let position = 0;
do {
  const page = await fastmail.searchEmailsPage({ query: 'invoice', limit: 100, position });
  console.log(page.items.map(email => ({ id: email.id, subject: email.subject })));
  if (page.nextPosition === null) break;
  position = page.nextPosition;
} while (true);

Calendar and contact page methods omit raw data unless includeRaw: true. Get individual records with getCalendarEvent or getContact for full data. Existing array methods retain raw iCal and vCards by default and accept the same pagination options. Array methods return only one page, so they are unsuitable for a complete export without an explicit loop.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
