opinion

opinion is a skill for Claude Code from afaraha8403/balakit. It costs 105 tokens per session (1,184 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A skill that asks several available workers the same question and returns their answers as labeled opinions. The workers do not edit project files.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to gather multiple takes on a question, choose a number of workers within the supported range, or compare named models when those are available.
Why use it?
It provides separate viewpoints when a decision would benefit from comparison, while keeping the current project unchanged. The user must explicitly request it.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00105 $0.01184
Opus 5.5 $0.00042 $0.00474
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00021 $0.00237
Haiku 4.5 $0.00011 $0.00118

Security

Grade A, and why

opinion scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 28d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 125 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Opinion

Leading words: current first, same-family ok, slug shield, auto-pick stays distinct, labeled takes, no writes.

Workers answer the same request. This chat does not edit the project.

User input

$ARGUMENTS

Optional --agents N (also --n N, or a lone integer). Default 3. Clamp to 2–5. Strip the flag from the question text. If the user already named models (or current), use that list and ignore --agents. One named model fills every slot.

Operating contract

  • Do not auto-start this skill. The user must ask for it.
  • Current-for-all is the default. Same family may occupy more than one slot when they chose that.
  • Auto-pick is the only path that still requires distinct families.
  • Do not invent a model name. Use the live list this harness exposes.
  • Never write a spawn identifier in a question, option, chat roster, worker prompt, or take label. Map family → live-list name only in the spawn tool's model argument. Current → inherit (or omit model).
  • Workers are read-only. A worker that edits files has failed; discard that take.
  • Do not write project files. If the user wanted the work done, use execute.
  • If this host cannot spawn a child at all, stop. Auto-pick that cannot gather two families: offer Current-for-all or deep-deliberation.

Runtime state

OPINION_STATE
host: cursor | claude-code | opencode | copilot | codex | other
agents: 2-5
roster: unset | Current,OpenAI,…
takes: 0/N
next_action: one action only

Pipeline

Copy these steps into the todo list verbatim. Skip with skip: <reason>.

  1. Parse --agents (default 3, clamp 2–5). Detect the host. Read references/hosts.md. Build the live spawnable model list. Current-for-all does not need two families.
  2. Resolve roster: models the user named, or Current for all, or auto-pick agents families, or assign each worker. Announce with display names before spawning.
  3. Spawn one read-only worker per roster slot. Same prompt. Parallel. Read references/worker-prompt.md.
  4. Render labeled takes ([Current], [OpenAI], …). Stop. Do not merge into one verdict. Do not write files.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

opinion is a skill published in the GitHub repository afaraha8403/balakit (1 stars, last pushed 29d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 105 tokens to every session and 1,184 once invoked, about $0.0004 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-18.
