A method for analysing price charts through trends, trading ranges, buying and selling pressure, and market-cycle phases. It uses market data and technical setups as inputs.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for analysing chart structure, confirming trends, assessing pullbacks and reversals, and identifying technical trading setups.
Why use it?
It helps distinguish whether a market is trending or moving sideways and frames possible continuation or reversal scenarios.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00035 $0.02150
Opus 5 $0.00017 $0.01075
Sonnet 5 $0.00007 $0.00430
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00215

Security

Grade A, and why

price-action scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Methodology inspired by publicly taught price action trading frameworks; all text is an original paraphrase.

Defaults

Parameter Default Value Rationale
trend_confirmation_bars 3 Minimum consecutive bars for trend confirmation
trading_range_threshold 20 bars Pullback > 20 bars becomes a full Trading Range
reversal_failure_rate 80% In a trending market, ~80% of reversal attempts fail and become flags
inertia_rule 60-40 60% probability trend continues, 40% probability reversal

Data Source Priority

  1. Price action framework — references/market-structure.md (bundled market structure methodology)
  2. Real-time price data — get_realtime_quote for OHLCV and VIX context
  3. Technical setups — search_technical_setups for matching pattern setups

Methodology

Retrieval Scope

structured_only

Retrieval Strategy

This skill follows Branch (d) Simple Lookup from contracts/retrieval.md: the methodology framework is bundled in references/market-structure.md. Real-time price data supplements via get_realtime_quote. Matched technical setups via search_technical_setups(market_condition=...). No unstructured document retrieval.

Temporal Scope

See frontmatter temporal_scope block.

Tool Allowlist

See frontmatter allowed_tools.

Protocol

This skill implements the price action trading framework: market structure analysis using price action alone — no indicators except a 20-bar EMA. The core thesis: every market is always in one of two states — Trend or Trading Range. If uncertain, it is a Trading Range. Detailed methodology, definitions, and decision rules are in references/market-structure.md.

Step 1 — Macro Context (Mode C — degrade-gracefully)

Assess the broader market environment before analyzing individual setups.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
