ap-adapters

ap-adapters is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from agentproto/ts. It costs 75 tokens per session (900 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A tool for installing and inspecting command-line agent adapters. An adapter connects agentproto to a specific coding agent and its local capabilities.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to list or install adapters, inspect their supported providers and tools, and review available spawn roles.
Why use it?
It shows which agents are installed, what they can access, and which roles or credentials are available before you start a session.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00075 $0.00900
Opus 5.5 $0.00030 $0.00360
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00015 $0.00180
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00090

Measured 1mo ago against content hash 2540546f35f6, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

ap-adapters scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

ap-adapters

When to use

  • Before spawning: which adapters are actually installed and what each can do on this host.
  • A spawn fails or bills oddly — is the credential there? Which providers can it reach?
  • You need to install a new agent CLI (claude-code, hermes, aider, …) as an adapter.

Inspect what is installed

adapter_list({})
// → [{ "slug": "claude-code", "version": "0.1.0", "protocol": "acp", ... },
//    { "slug": "hermes", ... }]

role_list({})
// → spawn-time roles: 'executor' (leaf, cannot delegate), 'supervisor' (may spawn children)

adapter_list is the static manifest view. For what an adapter can actually DO here, ask harness_capabilities:

harness_capabilities({ "adapter": "claude-code" })
// → { "authStores": [...], // where creds live (env vars, keychain files)
//     "providers": [ { "id": "anthropic", "cred": { "present": true, ... } } ],
//     "models": { "mechanism": "free-form", "ids": [...] },
//     "application": { "modelApply": "config", "postureApply": "none" } }

harness_capabilities is ground truth — it complements the manifest with the live/parsed picture from each adapter's own native config/creds store. Omit adapter to get every installed one.

Install

adapter_install({ "slug": "claude-code" })

Ordinary install failures come back as ok: false in a normal result — read the message, don't assume success. A fresh install still needs credentials before it can bill: run auth_discover_credentials and auth_profile_import (see ap-models-auth).

CLI equivalents

agentproto adapters list            # = adapter_list
agentproto adapters show <slug>
agentproto adapters install <slug>  # = adapter_install
agentproto adapters uninstall <slug>
agentproto adapters enable/disable <slug>
agentproto install <slug> # shorthand install
agentproto setup <slug>             # interactive credential/config setup
agentproto run <slug> # run the adapter directly
agentproto chat <adapter> # interactive chat with a specific adapter

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

ap-adapters is a skill published in the GitHub repository agentproto/ts (10 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 75 tokens to every session and 900 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-04.
