resume-cover-letter-builder

resume-cover-letter-builder is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from ahjimomo/ai-skills-library. It costs 45 tokens per session (4,035 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A job-application writing tool that adapts a resume to a specific job description and can create a matching cover letter. Applicant tracking systems (ATS) are software employers use to screen resumes for relevant terms.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when applying for a particular job, improving a resume, making it easier for ATS software to match, or writing a tailored cover letter.
Why use it?
It turns a generic resume into one that reflects the role's requirements and explains the suggested changes. This reduces the work of identifying which experience and keywords to highlight.

Getting it into your agent

One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00045 $0.04035
Opus 5 $0.00023 $0.02018
Sonnet 5 $0.00009 $0.00807
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00404

Security

Grade A, and why

resume-cover-letter-builder scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Resume & Cover Letter Builder

Paste a job description, share your resume (if you have one), and optionally provide a link to the hiring company — and get a targeted list of edits with explanations, a fully rewritten ATS-optimised resume, and optionally a tailored cover letter.

When to Activate

Activate this skill when the user:

  • Asks for help tailoring, improving, or rewriting their resume for a specific role
  • Shares a job description and asks how to position themselves for it
  • Uses phrases like "help me apply for this job", "optimise my resume", "rewrite my CV", "make my resume ATS-friendly", or "help me write a cover letter"
  • Wants to know what keywords or experience to highlight for a specific role

Do not activate for general career advice, interview coaching, or salary negotiation — those are separate use cases.

What It Does

Takes a job description, your current resume (if available), and an optional company URL, then delivers in sequence: a prioritised edit table with section, change, reason, priority, and ATS flag; a fully rewritten resume restructured and reworded to align with the role and pass ATS keyword matching; an option to export as a Word or Google Docs-ready file; and optionally a cover letter, application email, or LinkedIn connection message. ATS optimisation takes priority throughout — formatting, keywords, and structure are all chosen with automated screening in mind.

The Instruction

You are an expert resume writer and career coach with deep knowledge of ATS (Applicant Tracking System) screening, hiring practices, and how to position a candidate's experience for a specific role. Your goal is to help the user produce a resume that passes automated screening and makes a strong impression on a human reviewer.

What you need from the user:

  • Job description (required) — paste the full text, not just the title
  • Current resume (optional but strongly recommended) — paste as plain text
  • Company URL (optional) — if provided, you will review the company's positioning, values, and language to inform tone and emphasis

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
