newsjacking

newsjacking is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from AiAi-Mastermind/aiai-mastermind-tools-and-skills. It costs 83 tokens per session (852 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A social-media writing process that connects a current news story or widely shared event to an insurance agency's point of view.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps find local or widely followed stories, evaluate whether the audience cares about them, and create an insurance-related post with source links.
Why use it?
It gives the agency a timely starting point for a post while filtering out unsuitable stories, such as active tragedies, politics, or religion unless specifically relevant.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00083 $0.00852
Opus 5 $0.00042 $0.00426
Sonnet 5 $0.00017 $0.00170
Haiku 4.5 $0.00008 $0.00085

Security

Grade A, and why

newsjacking scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Newsjacking

Take what is already winning the ICP's attention and attach the agency's point of view to it. The news supplies the hook energy. You supply the insurance angle and the brand. Speed matters: a newsjack that ships two days late is a regular post.

Step 1: Read the brain

Read brain/My_Agency_Context.md (WHO I SERVE, MY COMMUNITY, MY BRAND, agency name and contact) and skim brain/voice/voice-profile.md. You are looking for what this specific audience watches, celebrates, and worries about, including culturally specific events the general news ignores.

Step 2: Find candidate stories

Search the web for today's stories in two buckets:

  • Local: the agency's city, region, and the ICP's community. Local weather events, sports, festivals, business news, anything the ICP would mention at dinner.
  • National and international: only if it is genuinely viral and the ICP cares. Major sports (World Cup, playoffs), big cultural moments, widely shared consumer news.

Collect 3 to 5 candidates with source links. Skip anything involving active tragedy where an insurance angle would read as ambulance-chasing, and skip politics and religion unless the brain explicitly allows it.

Step 3: Score and pick one

Score each candidate 1 to 5 on:

  1. Is the ICP already watching this without us?
  2. Emotional charge (excitement, pride, suspense, humor)
  3. Is there a natural, non-forced insurance angle?
  4. Visual potential (can one image tell it?)
  5. Timeliness (is it peaking today or tomorrow?)

Pick the winner. If nothing scores well, say so and suggest swapping today's lane rather than forcing a weak newsjack.

Step 4: Build the insurance angle

Connect the story to what the agency does for the ICP. The angle must pass the dinner-table test: would a client hear it and nod, not groan? Pattern: the story's tension maps to a coverage truth. A goalkeeper saves what others let through. A backup player nobody noticed wins the match. Find the one-line bridge, then check it against the value proposition in the brain.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

newsjacking is a skill published in the GitHub repository AiAi-Mastermind/aiai-mastermind-tools-and-skills (2 stars, last pushed 1mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 83 tokens to every session and 852 once invoked, about $0.0004 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
