site-mirror

site-mirror is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from ajmaluk/site-mirror-skill. It costs 53 tokens per session (616 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A website-copying tool that saves a site’s pages and assets—such as HTML, styles, scripts, images, fonts, and media—in a local folder for offline browsing.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to create a local copy of a simple site, a JavaScript-heavy single-page app, or several linked pages from the same domain.
Why use it?
It removes the need to inspect or download a site’s files one by one, including content loaded by JavaScript.

Getting it into your agent

One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00053 $0.00616
Opus 5 $0.00026 $0.00308
Sonnet 5 $0.00011 $0.00123
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00062

Security

Grade A, and why

site-mirror scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

What it actually says

What I do

  • Download websites for offline browsing. Captures HTML, CSS, JS, images, fonts and media.
  • Offer two modes: static using wget and dynamic using Playwright.
  • Produce an index.html with rewritten links and a report.json summarizing assets.

When to use me

Invoke this skill when you need a local mirror of a site. Use static mode for simple sites, dynamic single‑page mode for modern SPAs, or dynamic multi‑page mode when you need to follow internal links.

How to run

In a Codex session, use the shell tool to run one of the following:

python3 mirror.py <URL> -o <output_dir>

for static sites, or

python3 mirror_dynamic.py <URL> -o <output_dir>

for dynamic single‑page sites. Replace <URL> with the target site and <output_dir> with a folder name. After completion, open <output_dir>/index.html to browse.

If you need to follow internal links on a dynamic site (e.g., capturing several pages from the same domain), use the multi‑page crawler:

python3 mirror_dynamic_multi.py <URL> -o <output_dir> --depth 1 --concurrency 3 --max-pages 50

The --depth option controls how many link levels to follow. The optional --concurrency sets how many pages to process in parallel (default: 3) and --max-pages limits the total number of pages captured (default: unlimited). Use these options to tune performance and avoid downloading an entire site unintentionally.

Installation

To install this skill locally:

  1. Copy the directory codex-site-mirror to your global skills folder (~/.agents/skills/) or project folder (.agents/skills/).
  2. Ensure the mirror.py and mirror_dynamic.py scripts are accessible in your project or on your PATH.
  3. Codex will automatically load the skill the next time you start a session.

Alternatively, package this skill as a plugin and install it via codex's skill installer.

Notes

  • Respect copyrights and robots.txt. Do not mirror sites without permission.
  • Install Playwright (pip install playwright && playwright install) for dynamic mode.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

site-mirror is a skill published in the GitHub repository ajmaluk/site-mirror-skill (2 stars, last pushed 2mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 53 tokens to every session and 616 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 1 finding (makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
