ai-memory is a shared long-term memory system for coding agents that preserves project knowledge, unfinished work, failed approaches, and open questions across tools and machines. It is used by individual developers and teams to hand work between different coding agents and continue projects without repeating the context.
Getting it into your agent
One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.00033 | $0.00338 |
| Opus 5.5 | $0.00013 | $0.00135 |

Grade B, and why
status scanned grade B with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 13d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Unrestricted tool accessmediumExcessive agency
A wildcard tool grant or "run any command" leaves no least-privilege boundary at all.

ai-memory status
Report on the ai-memory install this session uses. Only report: do not change any file, setting or hook, and do not run any command other than the two below.
- Run
ai-memory --version. If the command is not found, say that the ai-memory binary is not installed (or not onPATH), that this session is therefore not captured while the memory tools may still answer from an ai-memory server, and point to https://github.com/akitaonrails/ai-memory#install. Stop there. - Run
ai-memory doctorin the current project directory.
Summarize the doctor output in a few short lines:
- whether the server answered, and which server URL it used;
- the workspace and project this directory maps to;
- capture coverage for this agent, and any agent it flags as uncaptured;
- the hook spool backlog, if any events are waiting;
- duplicate wiring: the ai-memory plugin and settings-file hooks (or installed skills) both active, and which one doctor suggests keeping;
- for Codex, any ai-memory hook Codex skips as
untrustedormodified(the user trusts them in/hooks); - the ai-memory plugin version against the binary version, when they differ.
Quote problems as doctor states them, and leave every fix to the user.
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

status is a skill published in the GitHub repository akitaonrails/ai-memory (13,818 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT. It adds 33 tokens to every session and 338 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it B with 1 finding (unrestricted tool access). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-14.
