before-implement-governance-repair

before-implement-governance-repair is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from alonf/specrew. It costs 0 tokens per session (323 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A repair pattern for planning documents that have drifted out of sync with the implementation process. It covers authorization records, task traceability, review gates, and governance validation.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to update stale plan text, record approval conditions, align task metadata with requirements, and rerun governance checks.
Why use it?
It helps unblock implementation when planning artifacts are inconsistent, even though the code itself has no runtime defect.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00000 $0.00323
Opus 5 $0.00000 $0.00161
Sonnet 5 $0.00000 $0.00065
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00032

Security

Grade A, and why

before-implement-governance-repair scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Before-Implement Governance Repair

When to use

Use this pattern when a feature is blocked at the speckit.specrew-speckit.before-implement boundary by artifact drift rather than runtime defects.

Repair checklist

  1. Record the latest human authorization text verbatim in .squad/decisions.md, including any conditional implementation-start rule.
  2. Remove stale iteration-plan wording that still claims tasks.md is absent after task generation, and point the next boundary at before-implement review rather than earlier planning steps.
  3. Make task body trace metadata echo every SC listed in a task's Trace field so traceability is explicit in both places.
  4. Add a hardening-gate sign-off section that records authority, authorization text, implementation-start condition, and any explicitly deferred items with rationale.
  5. Audit authoritative planning artifacts for accidental FR-031..FR-033 references; if absent, leave scope alone.
  6. Rerun pwsh -NoProfile -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File .\extensions\specrew-speckit\scripts\validate-governance.ps1 -ProjectPath . -IterationPath .\specs\<feature>\iterations\<NNN> and stop if new blockers remain.
  7. If the iteration is parked at the implementation-start boundary, normalize the iteration-plan header to validator-recognized values: use execution-boundary status wording (executing) and keep the Capacity denominator equal to .specrew\iteration-config.yml capacity while preserving any smaller feature-slice lock in the body text.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
