branded-vs-nonbranded

branded-vs-nonbranded is a skill for Claude Code from amirjahfar1/Google-Search-Console-GSC-MCP. It costs 49 tokens per session (421 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A Search Console report that separates searches for a company or website name from searches using other terms. Branded searches include the brand name; non-branded searches show reach beyond existing brand awareness.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to compare branded and non-branded clicks, impressions, click-through rates, rankings, and shares of total search traffic.
Why use it?
Brand searches often have high rankings and click rates, which can make overall search growth look stronger than it is. Separating them shows how well the site attracts new searchers.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00049 $0.00421
Opus 5 $0.00024 $0.00211
Sonnet 5 $0.00010 $0.00084
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00042

Measured 11d ago against content hash bc9b3340e4f3, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-12, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

branded-vs-nonbranded scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Branded vs Non-Branded Query Split

Branded queries (containing the site's brand/company name) inflate overall performance numbers with high CTR and position-1 rankings. This skill isolates non-branded performance to show real organic reach.

Steps

  1. Call list_properties to confirm the exact site_url.
  2. If the brand name/term isn't already known, ask the user for it (accept multiple variants comma-separated, e.g. "Nike, Nike shoes, common misspellings").
  3. Call get_advanced_search_analytics with:
    • dimensions=query
    • filter_dimension=query, filter_operator=contains, filter_expression=<brand term>
    • row_limit=1000
    • This gives the branded totals.
  4. Call it again with filter_operator=notContains on the same brand term for the non-branded totals. If multiple brand variants were given, use the filters JSON array with one notContains entry per variant (AND logic excludes all of them).
  5. Sum clicks/impressions for each group and compute each group's % share of total clicks.
  6. Compare CTR and position between branded and non-branded — branded queries typically have much higher CTR, so don't let them mask weak non-branded rankings.

Output format

  • Branded vs Non-Branded totals table: Clicks | Impressions | CTR | Position | % of total clicks
  • Top 10 non-branded queries (the real organic growth signal)
  • One-line takeaway on how brand-dependent the site's current traffic is

Run content-opportunities with a notContains brand filter to make sure surfaced "opportunities" aren't just branded queries in disguise.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
