Getting it into your agent
It runs from inside its repository, so the clone comes first — what it calls does not travel with the file alone.

What it costs to keep this loaded
Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.00158 | $0.03565 |
| Opus 5 | $0.00079 | $0.01783 |
| Sonnet 5 | $0.00032 | $0.00713 |
| Haiku 4.5 | $0.00016 | $0.00357 |
Grade A, and why
aid-housekeep scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 249 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
Knowledge Base Housekeeping
State machine: PREFLIGHT → KB-DELTA → SUMMARY-DELTA → CLEANUP → DONE.
Runs the three standard housekeeping jobs in a safe, fixed order, on a dedicated
aid/housekeep-* branch, with one commit per stage. Re-running after a stalled
gate resumes at the stalled stage — not job 1.
Prerequisite: A .aid/ directory must exist (init has run). Not Plan Mode
(stages write). A git repository must be present and clean enough to branch.
Absent from the mandatory pipeline flow. /aid-housekeep is an optional,
on-demand skill (REQUIREMENTS.md FR6). It is NOT inserted into the phase-to-skill
pipeline mapping and no phase gate references it.
State machine — each /aid-housekeep invocation drives the state machine until
it hits a natural pause point per
.claude/aid/templates/state-machine-chaining.md.
Mechanical states auto-chain; only PAUSE-FOR-USER-ACTION and HALT stop the run.
aid-housekeep ▸ one step per run [ PREFLIGHT ] → [ KB-DELTA ] → [ SUMMARY-DELTA ] → [ CLEANUP ] → [ DONE ]
Arguments
| Argument | Effect |
|---|---|
| (none) | Full gated sequence: KB-DELTA → SUMMARY-DELTA → CLEANUP (FR7 default). |
--cleanup-only |
Jump straight to CLEANUP, skipping KB and summary (AC10). Sets **Mode:** cleanup-only. KB/Summary stage rows are left — (a deliberate cleanup-only run does not violate C1 — REQUIREMENTS.md FR7). --grade X is ignored under --cleanup-only (SUMMARY-DELTA is bypassed). |
--grade X |
Pass-through to the SUMMARY-DELTA delegation to /aid-summarize. Format: [A-F][-+]? (e.g., A, A-, B+). Without this, resolved via bash .claude/aid/scripts/config/read-setting.sh --skill summary --key minimum_grade --default A. Ignored when --cleanup-only is also given. |
--fetch/ offline: The online-first / permissioned-offline gate (REQUIREMENTS.md C2, AC3) is feature-002's concern. The skeleton does not parse a--fetchflag; it simply routes into KB-DELTA, whose body (feature-002) performsgit fetch originand the offline-permission prompt.
What ships with it
5 files beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

aid-housekeep is a skill published in the GitHub repository AndreVianna/aid-methodology (5 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 158 tokens to every session and 3,565 once invoked, about $0.0008 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-03.
