Getting it into your agent
One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.00061 | $0.00774 |
| Opus 5 | $0.00030 | $0.00387 |

Grade A, and why
better-auth-nextjs-integration-and-route-protection scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 87 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
Better Auth Next.js Integration And Route Protection
Use this skill when the Better Auth task is specifically about Next.js wiring.
Scope
- App Router auth route setup
- Pages Router auth route setup
toNextJsHandlerandtoNodeHandler- Next.js client setup for Better Auth
- RSC and server action auth boundaries
- route protection with proxy or middleware
- cookie-based checks and session reads in Next.js
Default path
- Confirm whether the app is App Router or Pages Router.
- Mount the Better Auth handler in
/api/auth/[...all]unless the app has a strong reason to customize it. - Create the Better Auth client in a shared
lib/auth-clientboundary. - Use Better Auth session APIs where the framework runtime allows them.
- For route protection, prefer the current Next.js runtime model:
proxy.tsfor Next.js 16+- version-appropriate middleware or cookie checks for older releases
- Keep auth checks close to the route boundary and avoid duplicating them inside every page.
When to deviate
- Customize the auth route only when an existing app convention or deployment constraint requires it.
- Use Pages Router guidance only when the repo is actually Pages-based.
- Fall back to version-appropriate middleware naming or cookie checks when the app is on an older Next.js line.
- Move back to the Better Auth overview skill when the task is no longer specifically about Next.js wiring.
Guardrails
- Do not mix App Router and Pages Router patterns in the same answer.
- Use the correct handler adapter for the route type.
- Keep auth route mounting and client base path aligned.
- Prefer cookie-based checks or Better Auth APIs over ad hoc session parsing.
- Next.js version differences matter; verify whether the app is on the proxy naming model.
Avoid
- mixing App Router and Pages Router setup in one implementation path
- scattering auth checks through page components instead of keeping them near route boundaries
- hand-parsing session cookies when Better Auth or framework APIs already own that surface
- ignoring the Next.js version when recommending
proxy.tsvs older middleware patterns
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

better-auth-nextjs-integration-and-route-protection is a skill published in the GitHub repository andrewsrigom/agent-skills (2 stars, last pushed 5mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 61 tokens to every session and 774 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
