pricing-strategy

pricing-strategy is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from androoAGI/starnet. It costs 52 tokens per session (2,494 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A procedure for deciding what to charge for a product or service and how to package the offer. It considers the charging unit, plans, tiers, starting prices, price changes, evidence, and assumptions.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to compare per-user, usage-based, flat, or mixed pricing; design free and paid plans; plan price increases; or review whether a pricing page is easy to understand.
Why use it?
It replaces arbitrary pricing decisions with an explicit link between price, customer value, competitors, and business results. It can also reveal unclear pricing-page structure.

About the project

StarNet is a local-first desktop harness for creating AI agents and arranging them in a pixel-art space station whose layout represents their capabilities, permissions, and workflow. It lets people run real model calls and tools through multiple bounded agents, using their own provider keys or accounts and optionally messaging the station through chat services. The catalogue entries are skills that extend or support work performed by StarNet agents.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00052 $0.02494
Opus 5.5 $0.00021 $0.00998
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00010 $0.00499
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00249

Security

Grade A, and why

pricing-strategy scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Pricing Strategy

Help the Commander decide what to charge and how to package it, so that price follows the value customers get. The bar: every recommendation states the evidence or the assumption behind it, competitor prices come from pages you opened, and none of the Commander's own numbers are made up.

When to use

  • "How much should I charge?" "Are my tiers right?" "Should I have a free plan?"
  • Choosing between per-seat, usage, flat or mixed pricing.
  • Planning a price increase.
  • "Tear down my pricing page."

Not for rewriting the pricing page copy (landing-copy), a full conversion review of the page (conversion-review), or finding out what customers value in their own words (customer-research, which feeds this skill).

Method

  1. Gather context. Look for a product brief in the workspace with fs.search, then ask only for what is missing:
    • Business: product type, current pricing, target market (small business, mid-market, enterprise), how it sells (self-serve, sales-led, both).
    • Value and competition: the main value delivered, the alternatives customers weigh.
    • Performance: conversion rate, average revenue per customer, churn, what customers say about price.
    • Goal: growth, revenue or profit; moving up-market or down.
  2. Read the market. Open each named competitor's pricing page (web_fetch, or browser.navigate and browser.get_text when prices only appear in a real browser). Record plan names, prices, what is charged for, limits, the URL and the date read. "Contact sales" is recorded as not public. Competitor prices are data points, not targets.
  3. Choose the value metric. What the customer pays per. See the test below.
  4. Choose the pricing model that fits the metric. references/pricing-models.md (included at the end of this skill) covers the eight models and when to combine them.
  5. Shape the tiers. Number of tiers, what separates them, who each is for. references/tier-structure.md (included at the end of this skill) covers packaging by persona, free plan versus trial, and enterprise tiers.
  6. Set price points. For a first price, use the rules in "A first price". For an existing price, use the evidence gathered and the psychology notes.
  7. Plan how to check it. You cannot survey customers yourself. Draft the survey or test for the Commander from references/research-methods.md (included at the end of this skill), and analyse the results with code.run when they bring the responses back as a file.
  8. Plan the rollout if a price is changing for existing customers.
  9. Tear down the pricing page if one exists or was asked for, using references/pricing-page-teardown.md (included at the end of this skill).
  10. Write the recommendation. Two or three options, the one you recommend and why, the assumptions it rests on, what to measure after launch, and the risks. Save with fs.write and name it with deliverable_note.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
