fpf-work-guide

fpf-work-guide is a skill for Claude Code from ansea09/agent-skills-and-protocols. It costs 124 tokens per session (1,966 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A work guide that keeps a current First Principles Framework (FPF) context and applies its documented procedures before substantial tasks.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps prepare and check context for coding, reviews, research, planning, document writing, and answers that rely on sources.
Why use it?
It reduces the risk of reasoning or making changes without the latest required context, sources, and working rules.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00124 $0.01966
Opus 5 $0.00062 $0.00983
Sonnet 5 $0.00025 $0.00393
Haiku 4.5 $0.00012 $0.00197

Security

Grade A, and why

fpf-work-guide scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 3 executable files (hooks/session-start.sh, install.ps1, install.sh), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

FPF Work Guide (Claude-native)

This is the Claude Code build of the FPF Work Guide. It shares its refresh, cache, and protocol logic with the Codex build: the scripts/ and references/ in this skill directory are copied unchanged from the canonical source in skills/fpf-work-guide/. Only the routing contract, paths, and packaging here are Claude-native.

Document Roles

This SKILL.md is the routing contract Claude reads when the skill triggers. Keep it focused on when to refresh FPF context, how to use protocol and chunk sources, and what must be disclosed in substantive work.

Canonical detail sources (read on demand, do not inline):

  • references/diagnostics.md — refresh gate, environment, chunk, and protocol diagnostic fields.
  • references/chunk-lookup.md — FPF chunk layout and pattern lookup.
  • references/protocol-trust.md — protocol repository trust boundary and instruction-source policy.
  • references/source-selection.md — source selection for FPF-backed answers.
  • references/release-notes.md — user-visible release changes and publication boundaries.

How The Gate Runs In Claude Code

There are three native entry points; you do not need all of them:

  1. SessionStart hook (recommended) — if installed, the gate runs once at session start and its output is added to context. When that output is already present, do not run the gate again unless a forced refresh is needed.
  2. /fpf-context slash command — runs the gate on demand and asks you to use its output before substantive FPF-backed work.
  3. This skill — when the skill triggers and no fresh gate output is in context, run the gate yourself as the first step (below).

Required First Move

Before any substantive answer, code edit, review, plan, or delegated task — and only if fresh gate output is not already in context — run the FPF context refresh gate:

FPF_WORK_GUIDE_SKILL_DIR="${FPF_WORK_GUIDE_SKILL_DIR:-$HOME/.claude/skills/fpf-work-guide}" \
FPF_CACHE_HOME="${FPF_CACHE_HOME:-$HOME/.cache/fpf-work-guide}" \
FPF_UPDATE_STATE_DIR="${FPF_UPDATE_STATE_DIR:-$HOME/.local/state/fpf-work-guide}" \
bash "$FPF_WORK_GUIDE_SKILL_DIR/scripts/update_fpf_context.sh"

What ships with it

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
