sequence

sequence is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from antoinebou12/uml-mcp. It costs 50 tokens per session (672 once invoked), scanned A, a copy of activity, MIT.

A writing guide for sequence diagrams in PlantUML, which show participants exchanging messages from top to bottom over time.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to document how users, services, databases, or other objects communicate, with image, PDF, text, or other output from uml-mcp.
Why use it?
It provides rules for ordering participants, messages, activations, returns, and notes in a readable interaction diagram.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00050 $0.00672
Opus 5.5 $0.00020 $0.00269
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00010 $0.00134
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00067

Security

Grade A, and why

sequence scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 14d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Load the workflow skill uml-mcp-diagrams for URL-first replies, progressive discovery, and which MCP tool to call. This file is notation only; it does not add an MCP tool.

Notation tips

  • Declare participants left-to-right in contact order; autoactivate on; hide footbox when no returns.
  • Messages top→bottom only; activate/deactivate pairs; notes for asides.

Themes

Pass theme to generate_uml / generate_uml_image (PlantUML built-in name). The server injects !theme <name> after @startuml when the source has no !theme yet.

Recommended: cerulean, materia, sketchy, cyborg, plain, aws-orange, blueprint, sandstone.

Match the page background (also see MCP prompt diagram_theme):

  • light / white: cerulean, materia, plain, sketchy, sandstone
  • dark / black: blueprint, cyborg, black-knight, carbon-gray, crt-green
  • B&W / print: plain, sketchy, sketchy-outline, mimeograph, lightgray

Or embed in source:

@startuml
!theme cerulean
' … diagram …
@enduml

Starter template

@startuml
participant User
participant System

User -> System: Request
System --> User: Response
@enduml

Example

@startuml
participant Client
participant API
participant Database

Client -> API: GET /resource
activate API
API -> Database: query
activate Database
Database --> API: result
deactivate Database
API --> Client: 200 JSON
deactivate API

alt Error
  API --> Client: 500
end
@enduml

Render with uml-mcp

  1. Set diagram_type to sequence exactly.
  2. Call validate_uml when the source is untrusted (prefer strict: true for Mermaid sequence).
  3. Call generate_uml, generate_uml_image (chat PNG), or generate_uml_batch.
  4. Pass theme when this skill's Themes section lists supported values.
  5. Surface the returned url / playground (see the workflow skill).

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
