vegalite

vegalite is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from antoinebou12/uml-mcp. It costs 54 tokens per session (475 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A Vega-Lite diagram-writing guide for Vega-Lite, a shorter JSON language for describing data visualisations. It produces chart definitions from data fields, marks, and visual encodings.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to make charts such as bars or points by mapping data fields to positions and other visual properties. The result can be rendered as PNG, SVG, or PDF.
Why use it?
It helps create consistent chart specifications without manually coding every drawing detail. It also gives the validation and rendering workflow used by uml-mcp.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00054 $0.00475
Opus 5.5 $0.00022 $0.00190
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00011 $0.00095
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00047

Security

Grade A, and why

vegalite scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 14d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Vega-Lite visualization grammar

Load the workflow skill uml-mcp-diagrams for URL-first replies, progressive discovery, and which MCP tool to call. This file is notation only; it does not add an MCP tool.

Styling

  • Use config + mark.color / encoding colors; set explicit width/height.
  • No MCP theme param.

Starter template

{"$schema":"https://vega.github.io/schema/vega-lite/v5.json","data":{"values":[{"a":1},{"a":2}]},"mark":"bar","encoding":{"x":{"field":"a","type":"quantitative"}}}

Example

{"$schema":"https://vega.github.io/schema/vega-lite/v5.json","data":{"values":[{"a":1,"b":2},{"a":2,"b":4}]},"mark":"point","encoding":{"x":{"field":"a","type":"quantitative"},"y":{"field":"b","type":"quantitative"}}}

Render with uml-mcp

  1. Set diagram_type to vegalite exactly.
  2. Call validate_uml when the source is untrusted (prefer strict: true for Mermaid sequence).
  3. Call generate_uml, generate_uml_image (chat PNG), or generate_uml_batch.
  4. Pass theme when this skill's Themes section lists supported values.
  5. Surface the returned url / playground (see the workflow skill).

Confirm formats with uml://formats or list_diagram_types when unsure.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
