google-drive

google-drive is a skill for Claude Code from apideck-libraries/api-skills. It costs 69 tokens per session (2,225 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

An integration for connecting a coding agent to Google Drive, an online service for storing and organizing files and folders.

In plain words
What is it for?
Reading, uploading, searching, and organizing files, folders, and shared drives.
Why use it?
It avoids building separate connection, authentication, paging, and retry code for Google Drive and other file-storage services.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00069 $0.02225
Opus 5.5 $0.00028 $0.00890
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00014 $0.00445
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00222

Security

Grade A, and why

google-drive scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 20d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Google Drive (via Apideck)

Access Google Drive through Apideck's File Storage unified API — one of 5 File Storage connectors that share the same method surface. Code you write here ports to SharePoint, Box, Dropbox and 1 other File Storage connectors by changing a single serviceId string. Apideck handles auth, pagination, rate limiting, and retries so you don't write per-tenant Google Drive plumbing.

Quick facts

At a glance

  • Implementation difficulty: moderate — Self-Service OAuth + Google OAuth App Verification Required
  • Vendor partnership required: no (Google Cloud) — No partner programme, contract or fee to join.
  • Apideck-managed credentials: available — For testing only: Apideck's shared Google app is not Google-verified; production needs your own app.
  • Account type required: Any Google account (personal or Google Workspace)
  • Consumer access level: Any user who can access the files being connected; no admin role required to authorize
  • Sandbox: not available — Test with any Google account against an app left in Testing publishing status.
  • Costs: Drive API free up to 400,000,000 quota units/day per project; higher usage due to become billable later in 2026. CASA assessment paid to your assessor.
  • Rate limits: 1,000,000 quota units/min per project and 325,000 quota units/min per user per project (quotas effective 1 May 2026); HTTP 403 or 429 on excess
  • Authentication: Authorization Code flow with Google.
  • Webhooks: No webhooks — Google Drive change notifications are not surfaced as Apideck events; sync by polling the File Storage API

Important to know:

  • Full Drive access is a Google restricted scope: production needs restricted-scope OAuth verification, an annual CASA security assessment, and your app must be a backup and sync, productivity and education, or reporting and security product.
  • Until verification completes the app is capped: in Testing status only 100 named test users can connect and every consent expires after 7 days; a published but unverified app is capped at 100 new users for its lifetime, with an 'unverified app' warning.
  • Restricted-scope verification 'can potentially take several weeks' by Google's own guidance, and brand verification first requires a domain you own and have verified with Google, covering your home page, privacy policy and the OAuth redirect URI.
  • Google's non-sensitive drive.file scope avoids the restricted-scope review, but it only reaches files your app created or the consumer explicitly picked, and the connector does not offer it today: contact Apideck Support if that trade-off suits your product.
  • Google revokes a refresh token after 6 months without use, so a consumer whose integration sits idle must re-authorise; Google also deletes OAuth clients that see no token activity for 6 months (restorable for 30 days).

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

google-drive is a skill published in the GitHub repository apideck-libraries/api-skills (5 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 69 tokens to every session and 2,225 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 1 finding (makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-03.
