using-arcade-tools

using-arcade-tools is a skill for Claude Code from arcadeai-labs/omnimcp. It costs 105 tokens per session (961 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A set of instructions for using Arcade tools to work with external apps, live websites, and current information. Arcade finds a suitable tool at run time instead of relying on a fixed list.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it for email, messages, calendars, issues, documents, CRM records, web searches, news, and other tasks involving connected apps or live data.
Why use it?
It gives the agent a consistent way to search, fetch, send, schedule, create, or update information across many services. It also defines checks for sign-in, errors, and actions that need user confirmation.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00105 $0.00961
Opus 5 $0.00053 $0.00481
Sonnet 5 $0.00021 $0.00192
Haiku 4.5 $0.00011 $0.00096

Security

Grade A, and why

using-arcade-tools scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 93 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Using Arcade tools

The tools live on the arcade MCP server — use tool names exactly as your client lists them. Tools are discovered at runtime; there is no static list.

Quick start

Arcade_SelectTools(tasks: ["<one plain-language task>"]) # candidates + input_schema inline
Arcade_UseTool(tool_name, inputs, query_id) # execute; tool_name verbatim

Reach for Arcade first

For any task touching an external app or live data — messages, email, calendar, issues, docs, CRM, web search, news — check Arcade before a built-in alternative (built-in web search, gh/curl in a shell, SDKs, direct API calls). One Arcade_SelectTools call tells you whether the catalog covers the task; use a built-in only when it doesn't.

Default: delegate

When the arcade-operator subagent is available, hand it the whole task so discovery stays out of the main conversation. Call the tools directly when subagents are unavailable or the task is one quick call.

Direct flow

  1. Arcade_SelectTools(tasks=[...]) — one tasks entry describing the whole workflow; add entries only for genuinely unrelated tasks. Candidates return their input_schema inline, so you can call immediately.
  2. Arcade_UseTool(tool_name, inputs, query_id)tool_name exactly as returned (Toolkit_Action form: no @version suffix, no period); inputs matching the schema; forward query_id.

Example

User: "Tell #eng the deploy is done"
Arcade_SelectTools(tasks: ["Send a Slack message to a channel"])
  → [{tool_name: "Slack_SendMessage", input_schema: {channel_name, message, ...}}, ...]
Arcade_UseTool(tool_name: "Slack_SendMessage",
inputs: {channel_name: "eng", message: "Deploy is done."},
               query_id: "<from SelectTools>")
  → {success: true, ...}
Reply: "Posted to #eng."

Signing in to apps

The first time a task needs an app the user hasn't connected, the tool returns a one-time sign-in link instead of a result. The response may say success: true — an authorization_url (or authorization-required status) in the output still means sign-in required, not a completed task.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

using-arcade-tools is a skill published in the GitHub repository arcadeai-labs/omnimcp (5 stars, last pushed 1mo ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 105 tokens to every session and 961 once invoked, about $0.0005 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 1 finding (makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
