web

web is a skill for Codex from arch3rPro/Ark-Space. It costs 55 tokens per session (699 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A web-retrieval skill for searching public sites, fetching known URLs, mapping sites, crawling pages, and extracting structured information. It uses ArkSpace, a service and command-line tool for bounded web access.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to find pages, read URLs, collect site content, extract data into a supplied format, or retrieve implementation examples and API context.
Why use it?
It gives a coding agent a defined way to gather public web evidence instead of relying on unsupported browsing assumptions. It also reports failed or partial retrievals and their sources.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00055 $0.00699
Opus 5.5 $0.00022 $0.00280
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00011 $0.00140
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00070

Security

Grade A, and why

web scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 3d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 40 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Web

Use the installed arks CLI. This Skill never resolves scripts relative to the repository.

Readiness

  1. Run arks --version. If unavailable, explain that ArkSpace CLI is required and ask before changing the user's environment.
  2. Run arks doctor --json when Provider readiness is unknown; it checks configuration, not live connectivity. If credentials or SearXNG instances are missing, direct the human to run arks setup in a trusted local terminal. SearXNG search needs a chosen JSON-enabled instance, not an API key; load Search and Related for instance configuration and safety rules. Never ask for an API key in conversation or place one in a command argument.
  3. Ask before changing configuration or the user's environment. Force a Provider only when the user requests one or the operation requires it; otherwise preserve key rotation and fallback.

Route

Choose the smallest operation that completes the task. Search discovers sources; Related starts from one known page; Fetch reads exact URLs; Map discovers site links; Crawl collects bounded multi-page content; Extract returns schema-bound JSON from exact URLs; Code Context retrieves implementation examples. Use research for synthesis across sources and browser for dynamic page state.

Load exactly the reference matching the requested outcome:

Result handling

Read the single JSON envelope from stdout. Treat ok: false as failure and follow error.correction. Attempts are evidence, not completed results. Attribute every result to its URL, disclose warnings and partial failures, and remove temporary request files.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

web is a skill published in the GitHub repository arch3rPro/Ark-Space (1 stars, last pushed 3d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 55 tokens to every session and 699 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-10.
