continuation-unclaimed

continuation-unclaimed is a skill for Claude Code from arcprime-ip/patent-prompts. It costs 31 tokens per session (213 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A patent-review aid that finds technical ideas described in a patent but missing from its claims, including claims in related patents. It then drafts possible claims for a continuation application, which is a later application based on the same disclosure.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to review a patent specification, existing claims, and optionally related-family claims, then identify unclaimed subject matter and draft continuation claims for valuable disclosures.
Why use it?
It helps prevent useful disclosed inventions from being left outside the patent's legal protection. It also reduces the manual work of comparing the specification with claims across a patent family.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00031 $0.00213
Opus 5 $0.00015 $0.00106
Sonnet 5 $0.00006 $0.00043
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00021

Security

Grade A, and why

continuation-unclaimed scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Continuation - Unclaimed Subject Matter

Analyze a patent's specification to identify disclosed subject matter that was never claimed, either in the original patent or across the patent family. Generate continuation claims for the most commercially valuable unclaimed disclosures.

Instructions

  1. Read the prompt file at ${CLAUDE_SKILL_DIR}/../../portfolio/continuation-unclaimed/prompt.md
  2. Extract the prompt section (between the --- delimiters)
  3. Ask the user for the required inputs if not already provided via $ARGUMENTS:
    • Patent specification
    • Existing patent claims
    • Family claims (optional, claims from related patents)
  4. Fill in the {{PLACEHOLDER}} values with the user's content
  5. Execute the prompt to identify unclaimed subject matter
  6. Present the output to the user
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

continuation-unclaimed is a skill published in the GitHub repository arcprime-ip/patent-prompts (20 stars, last pushed 5mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 31 tokens to every session and 213 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
