mobiai-android-build

mobiai-android-build is a skill for Claude Code from ArisGuimera/MobiAI-Core. It costs 28 tokens per session (1,067 once invoked), scanned C, original, MIT.

A guide to building Android projects with Gradle, the tool Android projects use to compile code, run tests, and package apps. It covers dependencies, build variants, and common build problems.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to compile code, create APKs or Play Store bundles, run unit and device tests, configure product flavours, manage dependencies, and troubleshoot Gradle builds.
Why use it?
It provides the right commands and checks for different kinds of Android builds, helping developers diagnose failures without rebuilding more than necessary.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00028 $0.01067
Opus 5 $0.00014 $0.00534
Sonnet 5 $0.00006 $0.00213
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00107

Security

Grade C, and why

mobiai-android-build scanned grade C with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

rm -rf with a variable or a broad path is one typo away from removing the wrong tree.

Android Build System

Expert knowledge for building Android projects with Gradle.

When to Use

  • Building the app for testing or deployment
  • Configuring build variants and flavors
  • Troubleshooting build failures
  • Managing dependencies

Build Commands

Assemble (build APK)

# Debug APK (default flavor)
./gradlew assembleDebug

# Specific flavor
./gradlew assemble<Flavor>Debug
# Example: ./gradlew assembleFreeDebug

# Release APK
./gradlew assemble<Flavor>Release

# App Bundle (for Play Store)
./gradlew bundle<Flavor>Release

Compile Check (fast, no APK)

Use this to quickly verify code compiles without building a full APK:

./gradlew compile<Flavor>DebugKotlin --no-daemon

Run Unit Tests

./gradlew test<Flavor>DebugUnitTest --no-daemon

Run Instrumented Tests

./gradlew connected<Flavor>DebugAndroidTest

Clean Build

./gradlew clean assembleDebug

Build Variants

Android builds are a combination of Build Type × Product Flavor.

Build Types

  • debug — debuggable, no minification, debug signing
  • release — minified (R8/ProGuard), release signing

Product Flavors

Flavors are defined in app/build.gradle(.kts) under productFlavors. Common patterns:

// Example: country-based flavors
flavorDimensions += "country"
productFlavors {
    create("arg") { dimension = "country"; applicationIdSuffix = ".arg" }
    create("mx")  { dimension = "country"; applicationIdSuffix = ".mx" }
}

To find available flavors:

grep -r "productFlavors" app/build.gradle* --include="*.gradle*" -A 20

Or list all build variants:

./gradlew tasks --all | grep assemble

APK Installation

# Single APK
adb install -r app/build/outputs/apk/<flavor>/debug/app-<flavor>-debug.apk

# Split APKs (when using multiple APK output)
adb install-multiple app-base.apk app-config.apk

# Replace existing installation
adb install -r <path-to-apk>

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

mobiai-android-build is a skill published in the GitHub repository ArisGuimera/MobiAI-Core (453 stars, last pushed 4d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 28 tokens to every session and 1,067 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it C with 1 finding (recursive force delete). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
