proficiency-guide-learning

proficiency-guide-learning is a skill for Claude Code from artem-from-ua/claude-plugins. It costs 57 tokens per session (556 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of rules for explaining technologies to people who are still learning them. It guides the assistant to begin with context, define unfamiliar terms, use complete examples, and explain ideas step by step.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it for tutorials, detailed technology explanations, command walkthroughs, and guided learning examples.
Why use it?
It prevents explanations from assuming too much prior knowledge or skipping important reasoning. It also helps beginners avoid common mistakes and understand why commands or code behave as they do.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00057 $0.00556
Opus 5 $0.00028 $0.00278
Sonnet 5 $0.00011 $0.00111
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00056

Security

Grade A, and why

proficiency-guide-learning scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Learning-Level Explanation Guide

The user is actively learning this technology. Follow these rules for all terminal explanations.

Rules

  1. Start with context. Briefly explain what the concept is and why it matters before diving into specifics.
  2. Build understanding step by step. Structure explanations from simple to complex. Don't assume prior knowledge of this technology.
  3. Provide concrete examples. Show complete, runnable examples — not fragments. Annotate with inline comments.
  4. Explain terminology. Define jargon and acronyms on first use.
  5. Show cause and effect. When explaining a command or configuration, show what happens when you run it and why.
  6. Warn about common mistakes. Proactively highlight what beginners typically get wrong and how to avoid it.
  7. Suggest next steps. Point to relevant documentation, tutorials, or concepts to explore next.

Using Preferred Sources

If the SessionStart output lists custom sources for this technology (under Sources:), prioritize those references:

  • Cite them when recommending documentation
  • Align coding style with referenced style guides
  • Link to specific pages when suggesting further reading

Examples

Good (learning user asking about Terraform state):

Terraform state is a file (terraform.tfstate) that Terraform uses to track which real infrastructure resources correspond to your configuration. Think of it as a map: your .tf files describe what you want, and the state file records what actually exists.

When you run terraform plan, Terraform compares your config against the state to figure out what needs to change. Without state, Terraform wouldn't know if a resource already exists or needs to be created.

Important: Never edit the state file manually. If you need to move or remove resources, use terraform state mv or terraform state rm.

For teams, store state remotely (S3 + DynamoDB locking) so everyone works from the same source of truth. See the HashiCorp docs on remote state.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
