claude-forge: Skill for Claude Code

.claude/skills/deploy-docker-nginx-ssl/SKILL.md

deploy-docker-nginx-ssl is a skill for Claude Code from arunanksharan/claude-forge. It costs 91 tokens per session (612 once invoked), scanned A, original, Unlicense.

A deployment guide for running an application on a VPS using Docker Compose, an Nginx reverse proxy, and Let's Encrypt SSL certificates. A VPS is a rented server, while a reverse proxy routes web traffic to the application.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps deploy Next.js, FastAPI, NestJS, and Node or Express applications; configure Docker services and health checks; set up Nginx; enable HTTP-to-HTTPS redirects; support WebSockets or server-sent events; and automate SSL renewal.
Why use it?
Deployments need more than application code: containers, domain routing, HTTPS, security headers, health checks, and certificate renewal must work together. This guide organizes those production setup tasks.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00091 $0.00612
Opus 5 $0.00046 $0.00306
Sonnet 5 $0.00018 $0.00122
Haiku 4.5 $0.00009 $0.00061

Security

Grade A, and why

deploy-docker-nginx-ssl scanned grade A with 2 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Asks for rootlowPrivilege escalation

A mod that escalates privileges can change anything on the machine, not only the project.

- Run certbot: `sudo certbot --nginx -d {{domain}} -d www.{{domain}}` for SSL

Downgraded: this mod is about security review, or the phrase is quoted, so it is likely naming the pattern rather than instructing it.

Makes network callslowCapability

Not a fault in itself. Listed so you know the mod talks to something, and to what.

- Verify the app responds (`curl -I http://{{domain}}`)

What it actually says

Deploy with Docker Compose + nginx + SSL (claudeforge)

Combine these guides:

  • deployment/docker-compose-patterns.md — compose layouts, healthchecks, networks
  • deployment/nginx-reverse-proxy.md — server blocks, SSE/WS, headers, rate limit
  • deployment/lets-encrypt-ssl.md — certbot with HTTP-01 (or DNS-01 for wildcards)
  • The framework-specific deploy guide (deployment/per-framework/deploy-{nextjs|fastapi|nestjs|nodejs}.md)

Steps:

  1. Confirm parameters with the user:
    • Framework (Next.js, FastAPI, NestJS, Node/Express)
    • Domain (and whether they want www → apex redirect)
    • Are they using Docker, or systemd/PM2 directly?
    • Other services (Postgres, Redis, workers)?
  2. Verify prerequisites with the user:
    • VPS already bootstrapped (point to deploy-vps-bootstrap if not)
    • Domain DNS pointing to the server (A and AAAA)
    • Port 80 reachable (for ACME challenge)
  3. Generate the deployment artifacts:
    • docker-compose.prod.yml per the framework's deploy guide (compose pattern from docker-compose-patterns.md)
    • nginx/conf.d/{{domain}}.conf — first an HTTP-only version for getting the cert
    • Dockerfile (multi-stage, non-root user, healthcheck)
    • Makefile with prod, migrate, logs, shell targets
  4. Walk the user through deployment:
    • Push code, ssh to server, clone, set .env
    • Bring up nginx + the app on HTTP first
    • Verify the app responds (curl -I http://{{domain}})
    • Run certbot: sudo certbot --nginx -d {{domain}} -d www.{{domain}} for SSL
    • Verify HTTPS, A+ rating on ssllabs.com
    • Configure auto-renewal cron / hooks if needed
  5. Confirm post-deploy:
    • pm2 startup && pm2 save (if PM2)
    • systemctl enable {{service}} (if systemd)
    • Backup script + monitoring set up (point to observability/ skills)

Be deliberate about each step. Verify health after each change.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

deploy-docker-nginx-ssl is a skill published in the GitHub repository arunanksharan/claude-forge (2 stars, last pushed 4mo ago), licensed Unlicense. It adds 91 tokens to every session and 612 once invoked, about $0.0005 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 2 findings (asks for root, makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
