scaffold-react-native

scaffold-react-native is a skill for Claude Code from arunanksharan/claude-forge. It costs 90 tokens per session (521 once invoked), scanned A, original, Unlicense.

A setup guide for creating a React Native mobile app with Expo, file-based routing, shared data tools, local storage, and build services.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to create iOS and Android apps with authentication screens, API access, secure token storage, tabs, and a basic testing setup.
Why use it?
It removes much of the initial app structure and library configuration work for a new mobile project.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00090 $0.00521
Opus 5 $0.00045 $0.00260
Sonnet 5 $0.00018 $0.00104
Haiku 4.5 $0.00009 $0.00052

Measured 5d ago against content hash d14c1cfa03b7, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-06, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

scaffold-react-native scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Scaffold React Native Project — Expo (claudeforge)

Follow the master prompt at mobile/react-native/PROMPT.md. Steps:

  1. Confirm parameters: app_name, slug (kebab-case), package_id (com.x.y), description, include auth flag, api_base_url.
  2. Read mobile/react-native/PROMPT.md — directory tree, locked stack (Expo SDK 52, expo-router 4, etc.), key files (package.json, app.config.ts, root layouts, API client, auth store, login screen).
  3. Generate:
    • npx create-expo-app@latest {{app-name}} --template blank-typescript
    • cd {{app-name}} and replace package.json deps + scripts
    • npx expo install expo-router expo-secure-store expo-status-bar expo-linking ... for the Expo plugins (use expo install for those, pnpm add for the rest)
    • Replace app.json with app.config.ts
    • Create the app/ (expo-router routes) and src/ (api, stores, components, lib) directory tree
    • Write root layouts (app/_layout.tsx, (auth)/_layout.tsx, (app)/_layout.tsx with Tabs)
    • Write API client (with SecureStore-backed Bearer), Zustand auth-store, login + signup screens
  4. Verify: npx expo start, smoke test on iOS Simulator + Android emulator.
  5. Set up EAS if user is ready: eas init, eas build:configure, write eas.json with development / preview / production profiles.
  6. Hand off: setup steps + how to run EAS Build.

Do NOT use AsyncStorage (use MMKV), axios (use fetch), redux (use Zustand+TanStack Query), or NativeBase. Use FlashList instead of FlatList for big lists.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
