collection-schema-v3

collection-schema-v3 is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from Aryan-Jhaveri/mcp-statcan. It costs 61 tokens per session (641 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for writing and fixing Postman v3 collection and environment files in YAML. Postman collections describe saved API requests, examples, and checks.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to edit request files, examples, definitions, and environments, or to resolve collection schema errors in Git.
Why use it?
It helps preserve shared authentication, variables, scripts, and file structure instead of duplicating or overwriting inherited settings.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00061 $0.00641
Opus 5.5 $0.00024 $0.00256
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00012 $0.00128
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00064

Security

Grade A, and why

collection-schema-v3 scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Collection Schema (v3, Git-Native)

A v3 collection is a directory of independently editable entities. A change to one request, example, or assertion can be reviewed in a PR beside the code it checks, without regenerating a single large collection export.

  1. Edit the entity that owns the change. Top-level directories under postman/collections/ are collections; nested folders organize requests. Requests live in *.request.yaml, scope metadata in .resources/definition.yaml, and saved responses in .resources/<request-name>.resources/examples/*.example.yaml. .resources/ holds metadata and examples, not runnable request files.
  2. Preserve inherited auth, variables, and scripts when changing a request. Collection/folder definitions supply shared context; copying every inherited field into each request creates competing values and noisy future edits. See variables when deciding the scope of a value or secret reference.
  3. Use HTTP field shapes and examples when authoring request, example, or definition files. For other protocols, read their schemas; HTTP's URL/body/script shape cannot be assumed for gRPC, WebSocket, MCP, or LLM requests. Environment files have their own schema and do not use the collection entity's $kind discriminator.
  4. Preserve types at the YAML boundary. Quote {{variables}} and strings that resemble booleans or numbers; JSON bodies are string content, best expressed with block scalars. A syntactically valid YAML object can still be the wrong request body shape. The HTTP reference gives the exact fields.
  5. Keep edits local to the intended entity. order is a numeric relative ordering, so spaced values allow insertion without renumbering siblings. Keep filenames portable and unique case-insensitively; a display name can preserve characters that cannot appear in a filename. Renaming a request also requires checking its examples path.
  6. Save examples for behavior consumers need to understand or simulate. Their schemas feed api-documentation, api-mocking, and ai-readiness; structural validity alone does not make an example accurate or useful. Assertions derived from the contract belong with the request through api-testing.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

collection-schema-v3 is a skill published in the GitHub repository Aryan-Jhaveri/mcp-statcan (7 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 61 tokens to every session and 641 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-27.
