langgraph

langgraph is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from ashish7802/awesome-api-skills. It costs 0 tokens per session (355 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide to LangGraph, a library for building AI-agent workflows as connected steps with shared state. It covers conditional routing, saved checkpoints, resuming work, human approval pauses, and loop limits.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to design stateful, multi-step AI agents that can choose different paths, pause for people, resume later, and keep a record of their progress.
Why use it?
It helps avoid workflow bugs such as lost state, missing conversation identifiers, direct state changes, and agents that loop forever.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00000 $0.00355
Opus 5.5 $0.00000 $0.00142
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00000 $0.00071
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00036

Security

Grade A, and why

langgraph scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 1 executable file (examples/state-graph.ts), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

LangGraph Agent Orchestration Skill

Overview

LangGraph models agent workflows as stateful graphs with nodes, directed edges, conditional routing, and persistent checkpointers for reliable cyclic reasoning and human-in-the-loop interrupts.

Installation

npm install @langchain/langgraph @langchain/core @langchain/openai
pip install langgraph langchain-openai

Core Concepts

  • StateGraph: Defines shared state channels and reducers across nodes.
  • Nodes: Async functions taking (state, config) and returning a partial state update.
  • Conditional Edges: Dynamic routing functions (addConditionalEdges) deciding the next node or END.
  • Checkpointers: Persist graph state at every super-step for time-travel and thread resumption.

AI Pitfalls

  • Direct State Mutation: Never mutate state.messages.push(...) directly. Return { messages: [newMessage] } so the messagesStateReducer appends cleanly.
  • Missing thread_id: When a graph is compiled with { checkpointer }, every .invoke() or .stream() call must pass { configurable: { thread_id: "..." } }.
  • Infinite Loops: Always enforce a recursionLimit in config and ensure conditional edges have a guaranteed path to END.

Production Checklist

  • State channels use explicit reducer annotations (Annotation.Root in TS / add_messages in Python)
  • Every cyclic path has a conditional exit to END
  • Checkpointer backed by durable storage (PostgresSaver) in production

Files

What ships with it

2 files beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

langgraph is a skill published in the GitHub repository ashish7802/awesome-api-skills (13 stars, last pushed 2d ago), licensed MIT. It costs nothing until one of its globs matches a file; then it loads 355 tokens. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-22.
