react-router-remix-setup

react-router-remix-setup is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from asmyshlyaev177/state-in-url. It costs 110 tokens per session (2,638 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A setup guide for using URL-synced state with React Router or Remix. React Router is a library for page navigation in React, while Remix is a React web framework.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to share filters, tabs, pagination, or other state through the URL in React Router 6 or 7 and Remix 2 applications.
Why use it?
It avoids applying the wrong import or navigation options when moving between React Router versions, Remix, and their server-rendering behavior.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00110 $0.02638
Opus 5.5 $0.00044 $0.01055
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00022 $0.00528
Haiku 4.5 $0.00011 $0.00264

Security

Grade A, and why

react-router-remix-setup scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 23d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 257 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

This skill builds on state-in-url/feature-state-hook. Read it first for the module-scoped default-state rule.

state-in-url — React Router and Remix

The hook signature, return shape, and behavior of useUrlState are identical across React Router v6, v7, and Remix v2. Three things differ:

Aspect Difference
Import path state-in-url/react-router (v7), state-in-url/react-router6 (v6), state-in-url/remix (Remix v2)
setUrl per-call options Accepts NavigateOptions from react-router (e.g. preventScrollReset, state, replace)
SSR Remix v2 routes can hydrate from loader data; React Router CSR-only by default

Setup

React Router v7

import { useUrlState } from 'state-in-url/react-router';

type FiltersState = { sort: 'name' | 'date'; page: number };
const FILTERS_STATE: FiltersState = { sort: 'name', page: 1 };

export function FiltersBar() {
  const { urlState, setUrl } = useUrlState(FILTERS_STATE);
  return <button onClick={() => setUrl({ page: urlState.page + 1 })}>Next</button>;
}

React Router v6 (since state-in-url 6.0.0)

// Note the /react-router6 subpath
import { useUrlState } from 'state-in-url/react-router6';

type FiltersState = { sort: 'name' | 'date'; page: number };
const FILTERS_STATE: FiltersState = { sort: 'name', page: 1 };

export function FiltersBar() {
  const { urlState, setUrl } = useUrlState(FILTERS_STATE);
  return <button onClick={() => setUrl({ page: urlState.page + 1 })}>Next</button>;
}

Remix v2

import { useUrlState } from 'state-in-url/remix';

type FiltersState = { sort: 'name' | 'date'; page: number };
const FILTERS_STATE: FiltersState = { sort: 'name', page: 1 };

export default function Route() {
  const { urlState, setUrl } = useUrlState(FILTERS_STATE);
  return <button onClick={() => setUrl({ page: urlState.page + 1 })}>Next</button>;
}

Core Patterns

Pass NavigateOptions per call

setUrl({ tab: 'b' }, { replace: false, preventScrollReset: true });

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
