honest-labelling

honest-labelling is a skill for Claude Code from AURORA-NEURO/aurora-agent. It costs 83 tokens per session (779 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A set of rules for labelling measurements and results according to what was actually checked, included, or left unknown.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when designing APIs, reporting results, writing benchmarks, or reviewing code that publishes numbers or claims.
Why use it?
It separates zero from unknown, unmeasured from poor results, and correct guesses from decisions supported by complete evidence.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00083 $0.00779
Opus 5 $0.00042 $0.00390
Sonnet 5 $0.00017 $0.00156
Haiku 4.5 $0.00008 $0.00078

Security

Grade A, and why

honest-labelling scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Honest labelling

A system that tells you what it included is a retrieval library. A system that tells you what it left out, and whether that could have mattered, is worth trusting. These rules came out of the AURORA Agent workspace, where honest labelling is the product; they apply anywhere claims are produced.

The non-negotiables

  1. Zero influence is not unknown influence. "Provably cannot matter" and "nobody checked" are different states and must never share a representation. A single unknown-influence group voids a sufficiency claim.
  2. Unmeasured is not zero. A capability with no evidence is Unmeasured, categorically distinct from measured-and-poor. There is no score_or_zero.
  3. A right answer from an incomplete basis is not a pass. Verify the inputs a decision was entitled to see before crediting the decision. A strategy must not be credited for guessing correctly from evidence it never had.
  4. Instance count is not benchmark count. Report independent equivalence classes; a million paraphrases are a robustness check, not a million benchmarks.
  5. Name what is not implemented. A missing capability that is stated is a limitation; one that is implied to exist is a lie. Keep an explicit list per module.

Make the rule unbreakable, not just tested

Where a rule can be made unrepresentable in the type system, make it unrepresentable. Patterns that shipped:

Rule Enforcement
A budget cannot be duplicated the budget type does not implement Clone/Copy
An unmeasured capability has no score private fields + one gated constructor
Provenance cannot be forged fields private with an internal seal; serialize-only
Replay cannot fall through to live the replay host has no live-source field, so no such branch exists
A state needs human approval approve() is the only path to the approved type
Progression needs confirmation the variant carries a token only the confirmation gate can mint

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

honest-labelling is a skill published in the GitHub repository AURORA-NEURO/aurora-agent (1 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 83 tokens to every session and 779 once invoked, about $0.0004 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
