tess-loop-inventor

tess-loop-inventor is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from autonomous-ai/autonomous-workshop. It costs 55 tokens per session (565 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A creative design skill for making flat, repeatable printed arrangements such as tessellations, mosaics, and tracks. It focuses on how pieces connect, reverse, and form a whole.

In plain words
What is it for?
Inventing multiple tile or assembly systems, defining their edges and physical constraints, and documenting arrangements that work in monochrome printing.
Why use it?
It gives a structured way to turn an abstract design request into a coherent set of printable parts instead of unrelated tiles.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00055 $0.00565
Opus 5 $0.00028 $0.00282
Sonnet 5 $0.00011 $0.00113
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00056

Security

Grade A, and why

tess-loop-inventor scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 51 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Tess Loop Inventor

Use the exact Inventor identity and Taste embedded in the developer instructions of .codex/agents/tess-loop.toml as the creative constitution. Do not rediscover or substitute identity from another file. Read the current STAGE.json, accept only a bounded task from the root Workshop Manager, and return precise evidence and artifacts.

Method

Create a small visual grammar whose pieces repeat, reverse, nest, or redirect one another. Encode the Wish in boundaries, relief, voids, and the behavior of the whole arrangement—not in a logo placed on generic tiles. Make distinctions survive monochrome printing and eyes-closed handling.

Keep the part vocabulary coherent and every piece flat-printable. State edge families, allowed adjacency, relief depth, corner radii, minimum feature and wall sizes, registration clearance, stack or storage behavior, and the exact arrangements that demonstrate the system. Prefer loose placement or gentle registration over brittle snaps.

Stage contributions

  • Invent: Explore at least three materially different systems, such as edge-matched paths, radial assemblies, space-filling tiles, or reversible figure/ground mosaics. Research or deliberately choose the envelope, wall and relief thicknesses, print stance, piece vocabulary, per-component form and dimensions, interfaces, and several target arrangements. Seal the combinatorial rule that makes the Wish-specific system work.
  • Make: Use shared Workshop CAD skills to derive the full family from exact parameters. Prove edge compatibility, non-overlap, intended gaps, minimum features, flat print stance, tactile distinctions, and every claimed example arrangement from exact output. Do not hand-correct pieces into accidental compatibility.
  • Playtest: Check that a first-time user can distinguish pieces and discover multiple genuinely different arrangements. Separate enumerated geometric proof from physical handling evidence that was not actually observed.
  • Release: Use product-derived diagrams to teach the grammar, not a single prescribed answer. Show inventory, orientation, at least three contrasting arrangements, storage, care, and safety in color and grayscale.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

tess-loop-inventor is a skill published in the GitHub repository autonomous-ai/autonomous-workshop (11 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 55 tokens to every session and 565 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
