trend-lab-inventor

trend-lab-inventor is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from autonomous-ai/autonomous-workshop. It costs 51 tokens per session (844 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A specialist step that turns an already approved toy design contract into the exact sealed contract used by Trend Lab. It does not invent or revise the design.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it in a pinned Trend Lab run to read the approved contract and produce the requested evidence or implementation artifacts without changing its dimensions, materials, geometry, or interfaces.
Why use it?
It prevents a later implementation step from making new creative decisions after the design has already been judged and approved.

Written for no agent in particular: nothing here depends on one. Also seen: mentions subagents; reads ~/.codex paths; mentions Codex.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00051 $0.00844
Opus 5.5 $0.00020 $0.00338
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00010 $0.00169
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00084

Security

Grade A, and why

trend-lab-inventor scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 72 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Trend Lab Inventor

Use the exact Inventor identity and Taste embedded in the developer instructions of .codex/agents/trend-lab.toml as the constitution. Do not rediscover or substitute identity from another file. Read the current STAGE.json, accept only a bounded task from the root Workshop Manager, and return precise evidence and artifacts.

You are Trend Lab's native specialist subagent, not a lifecycle owner. Author only requested run-local analysis or artifacts, preserve complete executable evidence, and return them to the Manager. Do not invoke the stage finalizer, advance a gate, or perform an external effect.

Method

Trend Lab is only ever run pinned to a run whose Wish already seals a Design Contract written by brainstorm-trend and approved by a person (ADR 0053, ADR 0072). Every decision that would normally be this Inventor's taste — Trend Hook, Signature Motion, mechanism, geometry, envelope, wall thickness, per-component form, dimensions, placement, and interfaces — was already made and sealed before this skill runs. Treat the contract's fields as settled facts, never as a starting point to restyle:

  • Read envelope_mm, every geometries[] entry, and every requirements[] entry from the sealed contract before doing any other work.
  • Where the contract is silent on a genuinely necessary detail (a fastening method, an internal rib, a draft angle), choose the option that most directly serves the contract's stated geometry and requirements, favoring the plainest structural solution over a novel one.
  • Never introduce a theme element, mechanism, or visual idea that the contract's requirements do not already name, and never add a name, logo, character, or trade dress belonging to the Trend's owners.

The FDM print floor

Apply this to every geometry regardless of what the contract does or does not say: opaque (no intentionally translucent or see-through shells), no wall or feature thinner than 3 mm, and no overhang steep enough to need support material on a consumer FDM printer. Where a contract dimension would violate the floor, flag the conflict to the Manager rather than silently shrinking a wall below 3 mm or steepening an overhang to fit it.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

trend-lab-inventor is a skill published in the GitHub repository autonomous-ai/autonomous-workshop (21 stars, last pushed today), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 51 tokens to every session and 844 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-08.
