Getting it into your agent
One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.00220 | $0.08830 |
| Opus 5 | $0.00110 | $0.04415 |
| Sonnet 5 | $0.00044 | $0.01766 |
| Haiku 4.5 | $0.00022 | $0.00883 |
Grade A, and why
data-designer scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 507 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
Avo MCP
This skill teaches the agent how to use the Avo MCP server to read and write a customer's existing tracking plan. It is the playbook for exploring, searching, designing-against, reviewing, and implementing a plan that already has a meaningful taxonomy, plus the policies and gotchas that keep agents from breaking main.
If the workspace is empty or brand-new and the team is deciding what to track from scratch, use the data-designer-new-plan skill instead. Quick empty check: run search with itemType: "event" and no query; very few results means greenfield — switch to that skill.
The Avo MCP server runs at https://mcp.avo.app/mcp and exposes these tools:
Read tools: health_check, list_workspaces, get, search, list_branches, get_branch_details, get_branch_implementation_guide, get_branch_code_snippets.
get looks up a single item by id or exact name. It supports type values event, property, metric, category, propertyBundle, source, destination, groupType, eventVariant, and workspaceConfig. Use type: "workspaceConfig" to retrieve the workspace's tracking plan audit rules — i.e. the workspace-wide event naming, property naming, casing, and validation rules — before proposing any new events or properties.
Write tools (require the write scope): workflow, save_items.
The MCP never merges. Merging a branch to main always remains a human step in the Avo web app.
Flow 1: Start session (bootstrap)
Runs once per session, on the first prompt of any kind. Required before any other workspace-scoped tool.
Trigger: any prompt.
Steps:
- Call
list_workspaces. - If the user named a workspace (by name or id) in their prompt: set that as the active workspace, respond "Workspace set to [Workspace Name]", and continue answering the original question.
- Else if the user has access to exactly one workspace: set it active silently and continue.
- Else: return a numbered list of workspaces the user has access to and ask which one they would like to use. Wait for the user to select, then set it active and continue.
What ships with it
1 file beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

data-designer is a skill published in the GitHub repository avohq/avo-mcp (1 stars, last pushed 2mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 220 tokens to every session and 8,830 once invoked, about $0.0011 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
