check-trip-before-departure

check-trip-before-departure is a skill for Claude Code from AwardTravelFinder/mcp. It costs 80 tokens per session (603 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A pre-departure flight briefing for an upcoming trip. It gathers available information about the aircraft, seat map, lounges, airport waits and the points price of the booking.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it before flying to review your seat, aircraft, lounge and Wi-Fi information, airport delays and security waits, and whether the award price has changed.
Why use it?
Important trip details are often spread across airline, airport and loyalty-programme information. It gives you a checklist while making clear that live flight status may need to come from the airline app.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00080 $0.00603
Opus 5.5 $0.00032 $0.00241
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00016 $0.00121
Haiku 4.5 $0.00008 $0.00060

Security

Grade A, and why

check-trip-before-departure scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 20d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Check my trip before departure

The tools named below are on the Award Travel Finder MCP connector. If they are not available, tell the user to connect https://mcp.awardtravelfinder.com/mcp (setup: https://awardtravelfinder.com/developers/mcp).

Plan: needs Premium: get_trip_briefing. If the user is on the free plan, tell them before you call these tools, and use the free steps where the skill gives one.

1. Find the flight

  • If the user gave no flight, call list_flight_bookings and pick the next departure.
  • Call lookup_flight with the flight number to confirm the airline. It returns carrier identity only, not times, aircraft or status.
  • Get origin and destination from the booking. Ask the user only if they are still unknown.

2. Briefing

  • Call get_trip_briefing with flight number, date, origin and destination. It returns aircraft and seatmap data, plus airport delay and security-wait snapshots.
  • Live flight status (departure time, gate, delay for this flight) is not part of these tools. If a live flight status tool is available, use it. If not, tell the user to check the airline app on the day.

3. Seat

  • Call fs_find_best_seats for the flight and cabin. Compare with the seat on the booking, if known.
  • If the user wants a better seat, offer fs_create_seat_alert.

4. Lounges

  • Call list_loyalty_statuses to learn the user's status.
  • Call lounge_get_airport_lounges for the departure airport.
  • Call lounge_find_lounges_by_access when the user has a card or status that grants access.

5. Wifi

  • Call sw_get_flight_wifi for the flight.

6. Reprice check

  • Call search_all_airlines for the same route, date and cabin.
  • If the same award now costs fewer points, tell the user. Call get_cancellation_fee so they know the cost of rebooking.

Output format

A short briefing with headings: Flight, Seat, Lounges, Wifi, Airport, Reprice. One or two lines each. Put any action (seat change, rebook) at the top.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
