hotel-price-drop-rebook

hotel-price-drop-rebook is a skill for Claude Code from AwardTravelFinder/mcp. It costs 70 tokens per session (581 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A points-price tracker for a refundable hotel award booking. It checks whether the same room and cancellation terms later cost fewer points and supports rebooking when they do.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to monitor a booked hotel stay, compare the current and original points prices, and create a recurring check for a qualifying drop.
Why use it?
Hotel award prices can change after you book. Tracking the points rate can help you avoid paying more points than necessary, without treating cash-rate changes as points savings.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00070 $0.00581
Opus 5.5 $0.00028 $0.00232
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00014 $0.00116
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00058

Security

Grade A, and why

hotel-price-drop-rebook scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 19d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Rebook a hotel when the points price drops

The tools named below are on the Award Travel Finder MCP connector. If they are not available, tell the user to connect https://mcp.awardtravelfinder.com/mcp (setup: https://awardtravelfinder.com/developers/mcp).

Plan: needs Premium: list_hotel_bookings, list_hotels, get_hotel, monitor_hotel_price, create_standing_order. If the user is on the free plan, tell them before you call these tools, and use the free steps where the skill gives one.

Tracking covers points rates only. Do not promise to track a cash rate.

1. Find the booking

  • Call list_hotel_bookings. If the stay is there and monitoring is on, it is already tracked. Go to step 2 and do not create it again.
  • If the stay is not there, collect: hotel, check-in and check-out dates, total points paid, room type, rate plan (e.g. standard award) and confirmation number. Ask only for what is missing.
  • Call list_hotels or get_hotel to resolve the hotel code.

2. Check the current points price

  • Call get_hotel for the dates and compare with the points paid.
  • A drop is real only for the same room type, rate plan and cancellation terms.

3. Decide

  • Fewer points now and the booking is refundable: tell the user to book the new rate first, then cancel the old one.
  • Non-refundable: tell the user a rebook is not possible, and do not start tracking.
  • Same price: start tracking (step 4).

4. Track

  • Call monitor_hotel_price once, with hotel code, check-in date, check-out date, original points (total for the stay), room type, rate plan and confirmation number. It saves the booking and starts daily checks, so do not add the same stay again with a separate booking tool.
  • Offer create_standing_order for a weekly summary of all tracked stays.

Output format

  1. Current points rate vs. points paid, and the saving.
  2. Action: rebook now / tracking started / not possible.
  3. Rebook steps: book new, confirm, then cancel old.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
