post-quiz

post-quiz is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from awesome-town/canvas-mcp-skills. It costs 141 tokens per session (6,322 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A tool that turns teacher-provided material, such as a Canvas lesson page, PDF, Google Doc, or plain text, into a draft Canvas Quiz with questions.

In plain words
What is it for?
Creating draft quizzes from lessons and readings, including multiple-choice or other requested question sets, with source citations for checking.
Why use it?
It removes the need to copy source material into Canvas and write each quiz question by hand. The quiz stays unpublished so the teacher can review it first.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00141 $0.06322
Opus 5 $0.00071 $0.03161
Sonnet 5 $0.00028 $0.01264
Haiku 4.5 $0.00014 $0.00632

Security

Grade A, and why

post-quiz scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Post Quiz

Draft and create a Canvas Quiz with AI-generated (or extracted) questions, anchored to source citations the teacher can verify in seconds. Always a draft. Teacher publishes manually.

This skill never publishes anything. The Canvas Quiz is created with published: false (enforced server-side by the MCP). Teachers review in Canvas and click Publish themselves when ready. This is a hard policy — don't try to flip the published flag, and don't describe what the skill does as "publishing."

When to use

A teacher wants a Canvas Quiz built from something they have. Common phrasings:

  • "Create a quiz on the water cycle from this lesson page"
  • "Convert this Word doc / PDF / Google Doc to a Canvas quiz"
  • "Make 10 multiple-choice questions about my photosynthesis reading"
  • "I have a paper quiz I need to put in Canvas — here it is"
  • "Quiz this lesson — 20 questions, no essay"
  • "Add the actual quiz object for the assessment page I just made" (compose-with-plan-assessment case)

When NOT to use

  • Just a Canvas Page describing an assessment (no actual quiz questions inside) — that's plan-assessment. Some assessments need BOTH a description page (plan-assessment) AND a graded quiz object (post-quiz) — they compose, see "Linkage with plan-assessment" below.
  • Wholesale rebuilding an existing Canvas Quiz — prefer editing in place: the MCP has list_quizzes / get_quiz to inspect, update_quiz for settings, and update_quiz_question / delete_quiz_question / create_quiz_question for question-level edits. On New Quizzes, question_id in the edit/delete tools is the item id from get_quizitems[].id. There is no delete_quiz tool — removing a whole quiz is a Canvas-UI action.

Prerequisites

  • canvas-mcp installed and configured (v0.5.0+, the New Quizzes release).
  • New Quizzes enabled in the target Canvas course (Canvas's default). This skill builds a New Quiz via the /api/quiz/v1 service. Classic Quizzes are no longer supported by these tools.
  • For Google Docs input: the Claude Drive MCP (already authenticated in the Claude.ai / Claude Desktop session).
  • A school config is not required. list_competencies is consulted only if the teacher asks for competency-aligned questions.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
