APEX Skills is a collection of agent skills that provide AWS platform-engineering knowledge and workflows to coding agents. Engineers use it for tasks involving services such as Amazon EKS and Kubernetes. The catalogue entries are its skills and agents.
Getting it into your agent
One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.00237 | $0.05264 |
| Opus 5 | $0.00118 | $0.02632 |

Grade B, and why
ecs-observability scanned grade B with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Asks for rootmediumPrivilege escalation
A mod that escalates privileges can change anything on the machine, not only the project.
- Compliance anchors: session logging via cluster `executeCommandConfiguration`, CloudTrail `ExecuteCommand` events, and an IAM deny on `ssm:StartSession` to close the unlogged side door. Commands run as root; `readonlyR The source is not reproduced here

What ships with it
5 files beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

ecs-observability is a skill published in the GitHub repository aws-samples/sample-apex-skills (56 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT-0. It adds 237 tokens to every session and 5,264 once invoked, about $0.0012 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it B with 1 finding (asks for root). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.

cloudfront-waf-hardening
Harden ALB-backed services (LiteLLM, generic APIs) behind CloudFront + WAF. Creates CloudFront distribution with secret origin header, WAF Web ACL with path whitelist, and locks down ALB Security Group to CloudFront-only. Use when deploying any internet-facing ALB service that should not be directly accessible.
aws-research
Research an AWS or Kiro question across community and first-party sources, then answer with citations. Use when a docs answer is missing or contradicts observed behaviour, when someone else has probably hit the same error, when the question is about Kiro itself (steering, hooks, specs, powers, MCP), when it concerns…

Audits AWS resources for extended support charges and end-of-life version risk. Scans running resources, cross-references with AWS EOL schedules, and produces a status table showing what's incurring extra charges or approaching EOL.
