What is project-setup?

A setup guide for running the PCIC Management System on a developer’s computer. It covers the client, server, MongoDB database, environment settings, file uploads, and local development servers.

Use it when installing the project, creating its local configuration, preparing an optional admin user, and running the frontend and backend locally.

It removes guesswork from installing dependencies, connecting the database, configuring secrets, and starting the application. MongoDB is the database the project uses to store its data.

Troubleshooting

CORS errors: The Vite dev server proxies /api to port 5000 — make sure the server is running.
Auth errors: Clear pcic_token from localStorage and re-login.
MongoDB connection: Ensure your MONGODB_URI is correct and MongoDB is running.
