azure-sdk-for-rust: Skill for Claude Code

.github/skills/review-doc-comments/SKILL.md

review-doc-comments is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from Azure/azure-sdk-for-rust. It costs 42 tokens per session (1,574 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A workflow for writing and reviewing Rust documentation comments for public APIs, the functions and types other developers can use. It checks clarity, accuracy, links, sections, and examples that can build.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when documenting or reviewing public Rust functions, types, fields, variants, errors, and changes to their visible behavior.
Why use it?
It helps prevent public documentation from promising behavior the code does not provide and makes API reference material easier to use.

About the project

Azure SDK for Rust is a collection of Rust libraries, organized as separate crates, for interacting with Azure services. Rust developers use the crates and examples to build applications that work with Azure. The catalogue entries provide coding-agent skills, instructions, agents, and MCP integrations for working with the SDK.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00042 $0.01574
Opus 5.5 $0.00017 $0.00630
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00008 $0.00315
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00157

Security

Grade A, and why

review-doc-comments scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 29d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Review public API doc comments

Write precise, standalone reference documentation for developers using the public API. Prioritize human understanding while keeping comments easy for LLMs to interpret. Explain what the API does, when to use it, and what callers must know. Avoid marketing, conversation, keyword stuffing, and unnecessary detail.

When to use

Use this skill when writing or revising public API documentation. Also use it when reviewing changes to public signatures, types, fields, variants, behavior, errors, panics, or feature availability, even if no doc comments changed.

Review workflow

  1. Identify the affected public surface, including re-exports and observable behavior changed by private implementation. Stay within the requested scope.
  2. Read each affected API's complete documentation and relevant implementation, tests, and surrounding type or module docs. Include ///, //!, and documentation attributes.
  3. Apply every criterion below. Verify claims against code; do not invent guarantees, errors, panics, or safety requirements.
  4. For reviews, report findings without editing. When asked to fix docs, preserve meaning and make focused edits. Never edit generated/; report the issue and route it to the TypeSpec specification or generator.
  5. Validate relevant links and examples when possible. State what was checked and any limitations; never assume code compiles.

Review criteria

1. Apply Microsoft style to reference documentation

Apply these guidelines directly:

  1. Express ideas simply. Remove needless words and complexity without losing required constraints or qualifications.
  2. Use natural language. Prefer familiar words and direct sentences. Explain necessary domain terms and avoid unexplained jargon.
  3. Be approachable. Use contractions when natural and unambiguous, but avoid banter and forced familiarity.
  4. Lead with the useful fact. Start with the API's purpose or behavior. Surface important requirements and caller actions early.
  5. Include enough, not everything. Keep details needed to choose and use the API; remove repetition, filler, and cryptic compression.
  6. Use sentence case. Preserve proper names and exact Rust identifier casing.
  7. Punctuate by context. Punctuate sentences, not headings. Keep list punctuation consistent.
  8. Use serial commas. Include the comma before the final conjunction in lists of three or more items.
  9. Use conventional spacing. Use one space after sentences and colons, no spaces around em dashes, and preserve meaningful Markdown formatting.
  10. Write directly. Prefer active voice and meaningful verbs. Remove openings such as "You can" and "There is". Use natural summaries such as "Returns", "Creates", or "Deletes" where appropriate.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
