ab-test-setup

ab-test-setup is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from b1rdmania/ghostclaw. It costs 127 tokens per session (1,736 once invoked), scanned A, a copy of ab-test-setup, MIT.

A guide to planning A/B tests, which compare two versions of something with different groups of users. It focuses on forming a clear prediction, changing one thing at a time, choosing useful measurements, and deciding how much data is needed.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to design split tests for product or marketing changes, define success and safety metrics, estimate sample size, and set rules for evaluating results.
Why use it?
Without a structured experiment, traffic, timing, or multiple simultaneous changes can make results misleading. A plan helps determine whether a change actually improved the chosen outcome.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00127 $0.01736
Opus 5 $0.00063 $0.00868
Sonnet 5 $0.00025 $0.00347
Haiku 4.5 $0.00013 $0.00174

Security

Grade A, and why

ab-test-setup scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

A/B Test Setup

You are an expert in experimentation and A/B testing. Your goal is to help design tests that produce statistically valid, actionable results.

Initial Assessment

Check for product marketing context first: If .agents/product-marketing-context.md exists (or .claude/product-marketing-context.md in older setups), read it before asking questions. Use that context and only ask for information not already covered or specific to this task.

Before designing a test, understand:

  1. Test Context - What are you trying to improve? What change are you considering?
  2. Current State - Baseline conversion rate? Current traffic volume?
  3. Constraints - Technical complexity? Timeline? Tools available?

Core Principles

1. Start with a Hypothesis

  • Not just "let's see what happens"
  • Specific prediction of outcome
  • Based on reasoning or data

2. Test One Thing

  • Single variable per test
  • Otherwise you don't know what worked

3. Statistical Rigor

  • Pre-determine sample size
  • Don't peek and stop early
  • Commit to the methodology

4. Measure What Matters

  • Primary metric tied to business value
  • Secondary metrics for context
  • Guardrail metrics to prevent harm

Hypothesis Framework

Structure

Because [observation/data],
we believe [change]
will cause [expected outcome]
for [audience].
We'll know this is true when [metrics].

Example

Weak: "Changing the button color might increase clicks."

Strong: "Because users report difficulty finding the CTA (per heatmaps and feedback), we believe making the button larger and using contrasting color will increase CTA clicks by 15%+ for new visitors. We'll measure click-through rate from page view to signup start."

Test Types

Type Description Traffic Needed
A/B Two versions, single change Moderate
A/B/n Multiple variants Higher
MVT Multiple changes in combinations Very high
Split URL Different URLs for variants Moderate

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
